Guys, I have to ask…. I am coming to Cape Town soon. My 4th visit and I STILL have not met Percy Montgomery!!

What the hec is he doing these days and where does he hang out?

I am determined to buy him a beer!!

    @ nortierd:

Angry Stormer ‘aka nortierd’ got to me – only joking.

But looking at the Canes backline of Barret, Conrad Smith, Jane and Savea – all massively attacking players – I though we would be on the back foot.

But the Stormers must look at their own performance as well – there were a couple of tries left out there tonight. That is if they want to turn it around from previous seasons.

  • 427

@ Blue Bird: I’m cool thanks – you out for the Argus again?

  • 428

    @ IAAS:
True, it could just as easily have been the other way around.

No reason for smugness at all, just happy to take the points.

We need to start holding onto those 50-50 passes if we are to convert opportunities into points.

I hope Angry Stormer is feeling a little calmer now….

Crusaders looking very vulnerable IAAS, they look shocking at the moment.
The Canes will probably end up as the bottom dwellers of the NZ conference, but if ever there was a time to put one over the Saders, this is it.
An ugly win like tonight in Christchurch will be acceptable

    @ Blue Bird:

The sun comes and goes – but wine is for life!

If you are in the Joburg area, gives us a shout – there are plenty of us here on RT – you won’t even think of Percy!.

  • 439

    @ nortierd:

Particularly a win in the first game – it can set the tone for the rest of the tour. But I will still take 1 game at a time. It’s still early days.

  • 440

    @ IAAS:

Thanks for the offer… I will be sure to give a shout out if I get up to that area!!

However, Percy is still a very special Saffa for me!!

  • 441

    Cheers All

    Congrats to the Stormers Bye

  • 442

    @ Blue Bird:
Monty to his mates. Besides, I am sure you’ll have no trouble getting his attention if you happen to spot him.

Whew… Stormers giving me hat-attacks…!! Jean driving us nuts not going for poles right in front… But at least we got the maul-over try in the end…!

Better game than last week but still lots of problems…

Lineouts remain an issue for us… Seems to be communications hassles between Carizza and the hookers… I don’t believe Carizza is a better lock than Rhodes… in the lineouts or general play… so would give Rhodes the bear’s share of the play until De Kock is fit… then use Rhodes off the bench…

Damian had a great game… he is a real physical presence on the field… He’s got to stay at 12… even when Juan is fit… Let Juan sub for Jean and give Jean some downtime… Elstadt also a very physical presence…

Scarra also had a much better game… as did Frans Malherbe… was watching with the binos and the look on Frank’s face told a very interesting story… He was very surprised by Frans in the scrums…!

Jaco had a good game for a first start in such a long time… and didn’t look to be carrying any injuries… so not sure what all the press about him was all about…

Also think young Kobus van Wyk must be persisted with… I reckon he showed some great touches and enough potential be a good replacement for GvdH and rotate with a fit Cheslin. For only his second senior game, and remembering he is a retreaded centre… he showed great pace… (has a incredibly long stride…) showed some good stepping too… and good defense… and kept Savea largely in check… (even Savea’s try was not his fault…) and will only get better and better as his confidence grows… His inexperience meant he hung onto the ball a bit long in the first half… but was better in the second…
Point is though… that he’s creating opportunities… so please AC give him a good run at 14.

Happy the Stormers showed some fire and attitude… and won… but still not a convincing win… so plenty of work to do…

    Tough luck Hurricanes…

    guess i’m outta here too…

    laters gators…

    Bye

    @ ufo:

My goodness gracious – just as I’m signing out. As always a good summation of the game.

That Carizza worries me a bit – I’m looking forward to Steenkamp coming back – and to think we didn’t rate him 2 years ago. If you want those rolling mauls from the 5m lineout – then dominate the lineout. De Kock always did that – I hope he’s back next week.

van Wyk on the wing is impressive – AC must persist with him – he can only get better, particularly after a tour.

De Allende is creating a big impression – I’m expecting him to step-up this year.
