Peter Horne can’t wait to get back on the field for his first start for Glasgow in nearly a year.
The centre suffered knee ligament damage playing for Scotland last June, but is fit again and starts in the huge PRO12 clash with Ulster at Scotstoun this evening.

Peter Horne said: “I am desperate to get back on the field. I did my anterior cruciate ligament on the summer tour of South Africa and this is just my third game back and my first start.
“It has been tough being out, especially as the boys have been doing well and getting good results. There has been a real buzz about the club and about training. It has been tough to be sidelined.
“But I have worked really hard to get back to this point and getting back into the side makes it all worthwhile.”
The Howe of Fife man added: “In the past couple of weeks I have got on towards the end of the game. I have been building along nicely.
“I feel as if I am ready to start a game and make a real positive impact for the team.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better time to come back into things. It is the business end of the season and big games are coming thick and fast. But we have got the momentum building nicely and all of the lads are training really hard to be a part of things. I will have to do well to keep my place.”
Glasgow are on a run of four wins on the trot but Peter knows a win against the Belfast-based side will not be easy.
He said: “Ulster are one of the toughest teams in the league and we will have to show them a lot of respect.
“We will certainly not take them lightly. They have been one of the best teams in the league for a couple of years now.
“They were superb in their Heineken Cup quarter-final against Saracens. They were one man down yet nearly came through to win it.
“They have tremendous runners in the backs and some big ball-carrying forwards.
“But our confidence is high at the moment. We have had a tough week in training. There has been no let up.”

Glasgow stole the lineout and are on the attack but then called back for forward pass, scrum Ulster about 8m inside their half.
Great break by Matawalu then Strauss eventually though Ulster get penalty as Cusiter plays the ball after it had dropped forward and ref already was indicating scrum Ulster – time up officially
Final Score: Glasgow 27/9 Ulster. Good win for Glasgow – but no bonus point as only got 3 tries, looks like that crunching tackle by Ulster when Glasgow were flying to the line has cost Glasgow the bonus point and potential higher finish on the table, maybe even in the end be the difference between home semi final or not.

PRO12 Result- Zebre 26/13 Edinburgh, good win for the Italian side who scored 3 tries, poor show by Edinburgh who only got 1 try, Carl Bezuidenhout got 2 penalties over for Edinburgh.
Was a bit of a blast from the past to see Dion Berryman slice through Edinburgh defence to score his first try for Zebre a few minutes before the end. Visser stuck an arm out around his shoulder in what was a very half hearted effort to stop Berryman, body language of Edinburgh players didn’t look good
Result- Connacht 23/32 Munster, bonus point win for Munster
Gerhard vd Heever scored a try yesterday for Munster against Connacht and Danie Poolman scored a try a for Connacht, both were playing right wing. Munster got 4 tries in total and Connacht 3.

So the top 5 in the PRO12 after 20 rounds: Leinster (74 ), Munster (68 ), Ulster (65 ), Glasgow Warriors (64, only played 19 games ), Ospreys (60)
As the table stands at the moment the following PRO12 teams would compete in next seasons European Rugby Champions Cup: Leinster, Munster, Ulster, Glasgow Warriors, Ospreys, Scarlets, Treviso.
With two rounds of the competition left (3 for Glasgow and Edinburgh) can’t see this changing much, only change may be Zebre (12th in table) instead of Treviso (11th) as Zebre’s win this weekend sees them only 4 points behind Treviso. Seven PRO12 teams will be taking part in Europe’s Premier competition depending on where they end in the table, with the provision that there has to be at least one team from each of the countries whose clubs play in the PRO12, so basically for this year the top 6 will qualify and the best Italian team.
