listen to the commentators , they question a lot of Marks calls, for Me it was clear that one team had a free riegn and the other one was strictly blown. That unsettled this young Bulls team.
Hope some of you listened to the after match interviews and expert comments and have the guts to come say Superbul you have a point

What they been saying superBul? As only could go by what I picked on on the ‘radio’ commentary can’t really argue against the ref having a bad day as even through the commentary I got there were times when it sounded a bit iffy, BUT thats a big loss we had today and also we didn’t play well it sounds, aimless/inaccurate kicks, knock ons, poor passing especially one I remember was when it sounded like we were doing well on attack. Mr Meyer’s concern about Steyn being played at the Bulls instead of getting much needed rest was proved true, with Pienaar trusting Fouche the whole Currie Cup he should have had him starting today, what will that have done to Fouche’s confidence, and is he wasn’t considered good enough to start the game then surely all his time playing through the Currie Cup has been a waste and you have to question why didn’t the coach give Lionel Cronje more game time, so we go into next season with a Springbok flyhalf who hasn’t been in form, hopefully at least he will be rested and then we will see him back at his best, another flyhalf who has been given lots of chance to play this Currie Cup but not deemed good enough in the end, another flyhalf who didn’t get nearly as much game time as he should have and then a whole host of youngsters, not the best preparation for Super rugby, we can just hope a few of these guys play out of their socks next year.

Super sure Lawrence got a few calls wrong, but really Sharks were in control the whole way and would have won regardless. Anyhow now you guys can see what us Sharkies have to go through normally with this ref. He totally blew us out the park against Stormers in our first game against them at Newlands this year. Had it not been for Mark there Sharks should have won that game. We lost by 3 points. Here though Super Bulls lost by 17 points boet. Sharks were just too good even if we never had Lawerence reffing we would have won.
Now to celebrate my team going into the finals next week. Sharks have now made the Super Rugby finals and Currie Cup finals. Surely Plum will be Coach of the Year this year. Hope he is.

Super it was mostly Matfield and Naas complaining about the Ref. So both ex Bulls players. So not going to take them too serious. Sharks would have won anyhow like I said in my post 246.

@ superBul: As it happens, I did listen to the commentators. And, as an objective viewer, I cannot say that I picked up any overt bias on the ref’s part. Fact of the matter is that the Sharks dominated the bulls physically and it showed on the scoreboard.
To blame Mark Lawrence for the result is, umm, not that cool (trying to be polite there …).

How interesting that he would blow against the Sharks when they’re not playing the bulls, but he’d blow for them when they ARE playing the bulls.

look most blame must still go to the Bulls and the Coach.
You pointed out that Pine should have trusted LF, Morne was really poor so that was a wild card , certainly i jokingly said the new wife completely messed up Morne, but also his arrogance caught up with him. ( he was in a article in Die Huisgenoot , where he questioned us the supporters, he should have shut up and got himself back to form, not moaning about us questioning him.
The experts said straight and plain that the Bulls must get Mark Lawrences rule book and regroup and train to play that way. They said he was inconsistent with the tackle and ruck interpretations.
He had a big part in the frustrations that blew up amongst the Bulls players.
FINAL SCORE U21S Blue Bulls 50 – 24 Free State, well done to our young guys! Would have been nice to have won the BIG game too but 2 out of 3 semi-finals played today we won so not too shaby. We just need to be patient at the Blue Bulls our time will come again, the Sharks are possible at the peak of their cycle in terms of coaching continuity good depth of experience and right balance of good youngsters and so we should expect them to dominate as they did this year and probably even next year, hopefully after that with our youngsters gaining experience we catch up and over take them again.

The Currie Cup is homesick

We can just picture the Currie Cup, rattling to himself in a glass cabinet with excitement as he gets ready to depart for the Cape.
No doubt his first class ticket is booked and bags backed for the wonderful flight home after one years banishment in the failed state of Gauteng.
What is it about Gauteng? Has a proximity to Zimbabwe infected the world view of its people? I see none of their rugby fans even bothered to pitch up for the semi-final, such is the morose air of despair in that province.
They must have given up before their team had even run onto the field. Is there nothing we can do to help these poor people? A charity, perhaps? An Angus Buchanan rally to mend their broken spirits?
The game itself was, in a word, spectacular! This was the old-fashioned Western Province ‘peoples rugby’ of yore: an elegant game plan and marvelous execution. The final try, in particular, was one that will have the Ellis Park faithful (all five of them) whispering in hushed tones of awe for years to come.
The deft footwork of the Province forwards as they surged 5 meters for the line, the vision of the prop forwards as they intricately worked the ball inch by inch for the grand finale: a collapsed maul of knees and elbows for an anonymous score.
Oh, imagine the despair of the Lions players! It was cruel actually, how the Province players toyed with them, letting them gain a slender lead, only to whip the carpet from beneath their feet with that final, astonishing try.
So, off to Durban for the final hurdle. Let us not point fingers, but for the Kings Park semi-final, the stadium seemed only marginally less empty than Ellis Park. Is Kwa-Zulu Natal also falling into despair? Has it also caught the Mugabe bug?
This Saturday will prove something. For the first time in the Currie Cup, Kings Park will be full.
The reason for this is two-fold.
Firstly, Natalians will want to see the famous Cape-style of attacking rugby first hand, and that is an honourable thing even if they won’t admit it. But the second reason leaves room for reflection among the Durban faithful: they will turn out in their masses purely out of spite!
What is it that makes a people enjoy the anticipation of watching Western Province lose, rather watching their own team win?
Surely if they enjoyed watching their own team win they would have filled the stadium against the Blue Dinosaurs on Saturday? But they were (not surprisingly) AWOL as usual.
The spiteful Natalians tricked the Cape side in the most under-hand way imaginable during the Super 15 this year. I won’t go into this again, as I have argued it at length on this forum before, suffice to say that jealousy makes you nasty. Come Saturday, I truly hope we don’t have to witness a belligerent Durban crowd.
I prey they can applaud the Cape win with the same humility and grace always on display at Newlands.

“humility and grace” at newlands? are you high? you’ve obviously never been to King’s Park/Loftus/Ellis Park. newlands has the crudest, rudest, most belligerent, ignorant and biased supporters of any stadium i have ever attended.
