Derick Minnie and Michael Killian were the big winners at the annual Golden Lions Rugby Union award ceremony on Wednesday.

Minnie took home the titles of both Forward of the Year and Player of the Year, while Killian was awarded Backline player of the Year and Players Player of the Year.

In the Under-21 category Rudy Paige was awarded Backline Player of the Year, David Bulbring was named Forward of the Year, with Jaco Kriel winning Player of the Year.

Francois de Klerk was named Backline Player of the Year in the Under-19 squad, with Jacques Gnade Forward of the Year and Robert de Bruyn Player of the Year.

Fifteen senior players received caps for playing for the Lions for the first time in 2010.

They are: Burton Francis, David Bulbring, Deon van Rensburg, Edgar Marutlulle, Elton Jantjies, George Earle, Jaco Taute, Joshua Strauss, JP Joubert, Marius Delport, Martin Bezuidenhout, Renaldo Bothma, Robert Kruger, Warren Whiteley, Waylon Murray.
