All Blacks halfback Jimmy Cowan is in doubt for the second Bledisloe Cup clash against Australia in Christchurch due to an injury sustanined in Saturday’s TriNations test.

Cowan suffered rib cartilage damage in the 49-28 victory over the Wallabies at Etihad Stadium.

Highlanders captain Cowan started the match but was replaced by Piri Weepu after 33 minutes and All Blacks head coach Graham Henry says that it is unlikely he will be able to play.

The All Blacks will be attempting to retain the Bledisloe Cup and close in on regaining Tri-Nations trophy which was won by South Africa last year.

“He tells me he’s going to be fine but I think he’ll struggle to be right for next week,” Henry told NZPA of Cowan’s chances of playing at AMI Stadium.
