Tasmin Montgomery has withdrawn the assault charge against her husband.

Reports are emerging that the Springbok kicking coach was arrested over the weekend for allegedly assaulting his wife Tasmin.Monty appeared in the Verulem Magistrates Court on Monday and was released on bail. Monty allegedly squeezed his wife’s leg and threw a punch at her. According to reports the couple were visiting Montgomery’s parents in law in Umhlanga, after a lot of alcohol had been drunk, Monty and his wife started to argue and he allegedly punched her and assaulted his father-in-law.

UPDATE:

It now appears that Tamsin has withdrawn charges against Percy.

SARU is expected to make a public statement later today.

From the Rugby-Talk web site, we hope this issue is resolved and want to wish the couple well in resolving ther dispute. We would have been amiss had we not covered the newsworthy story though.

Percy is and remains a rugby-legend in SA.

@Tripples – hello Tripples. You are right. A couple of years ago my husband enrolled me in some self defence classes (his idea of a gift) :poop: and that is when i met some women that had been abused and i was truely horrified at what they had to say, and they were all from a upmarket area so it is not a poorman thing.

303@Tripples – Ja, Salomo was en is nogsteeds reg:

“Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Those who linger long at the wine, Those who go in search of mixed wine. Do not look on the wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the cup, When it swirls around smoothly; At the last it bites like a serpent, And stings like a viper. Your eyes will see strange things, And your heart will utter perverse things. Yes, you will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, Or like one who lies at the top of the mast, saying: “They have struck me, but I was not hurt; They have beaten me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake, that I may seek another drink?”
    – Prov.23:29-36

    Ek weet jy sal verstaan.

Sorry to hear about old Monty. I must say I have thought of slugging my Father in Law a time or two in the last 34 years….but one should keep control…and the peace. As for slugging my wife….there is absolutely no way….She is 1 foot shorter than me and maintains that when she moers me with the baseball bat under the bed after I’ve gone to sleep….no court in the land would convict her. So I just say “yes dear” and give money when I have to.
