Pretoria – The Blue Bulls won the Currie Cup at Loftus when they beat the Free State Cheetahs 36-24 in a lively and high-scoring final in which they controlled matters from the outset and were never behind.
The difference in this game was the Bulls experience and the game breakers who came to the Party. Fourie du Preez , Bryan Habana and Morné Steyn did what most expect they would do the whole week.

The Pumas took on the Boland Cavalliers at Witbank in their second round Promotion / Relegation game to decide who will take part in next year’s Curry Cup Premier Division. The Pumas absolutely demolished Boland, beating them 40 / 3.
The SWD Eagles took on the Platinum Leopards at Outeniqua Park, George in their second round Promotion / Relegation game to decide who will take part in next year’s Curry Cup Premier Division. The SWD Eagles won the game 18 / 17 but it was not enough to oust the Leopards from the Currie Cup Premier Division. The Leopards go through on points difference after both teams finished tied on the Mini Log, 6 / 6.

The Vodacom Blue Bulls’ Springbok trio of Bakkies Botha, Victor Matfield and Fourie du Preez will celebrate their 50th appearance for the Blue Bulls when they play against the Vodacom Free State Cheetahs in the Absa Currie Cup final on Saturday.

In a somewhat quiet week only a few players gave their opinion on the final game of the 2009 Currie Cup. If I must decide who is the most outspoken lot my call would be the Cheetahs and their supporters.
The Currie Cup promotion / relegation match between the Platinum Leopards and the SWD Eagles took place today at Olën Park, Potchefstroom. The Platinum Leopards won 47 / 42, with the SWD Eagles coming back strongly near the end.
