Day 2 of Rugby World Cup 2015 is here. The opening ceremony is done and dusted and England have won the very 1st game of the tournament, with what could turn out to be a handy bonus point.
Crowds from Brighton to Gloucester will be gearing up to go to the games today with 4 matches in total to be played. The local broadcaster of the World Cup advertised that there would be 11 hours of coverage across their channels today.
The big game of the day for Springbok supporters takes place late this afternoon just outside Brighton as they face Japan in a stadium that for the World Cup is known as Brighton Community Stadium. It is normally a football ground, the home of Brighton and Hove Albion a Championship team who are top of that table at the moment.
The 1st match of the day, between Georgia and Tonga, kicks off at 15:30 SA Time (12:30 BST) and the last tonight at 20:00 BST (21:00 SA Time) when France and Italy meet.

The South African Springboks squad, to take on the world’s best in England, at the 2015 Rugby World Cup was officially announced at 18:00 SA Time (16:00 GMT), live on SuperSport 1 on TV in South Africa.
Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer is on a hiding to nothing, no matter which squad he would have selected, whether it be from lobbyists saying that there are not enough players of colour in the side OR whether he is accused of player bias OR choosing old favourites… OR not choosing players on merit.
I urge everybody to accept his selection prerogatives, even though you or me would have done it differently, and to get behind this Springbok side for the Rugby World Cup, where they will be representing their country to the best of their abilities.
The “Ghost Squad” has already been discussed ad-nauseam, the announced squad is exactly the same and feature the inclusion of fringe players like Zane Kirchner, Rudy Paige, Siya Kolisi and Morné Steyn.
Injured or previously injured players like Fourie du Preez, Jean de Villiers, Duane Vermeulen, Coenie Oosthuizen, Jannie du Plessis is also be included in the squad.
A number of players are hugely unlucky not to be selected, they include Heinrich Brüssow, Steven Kitshoff, Marcel van der Merwe, Vincent Koch, Marcell Coetzee, Jan Serfontein, Frans Steyn, Cornal Hendricks, Cobus Reinach and Francois Hougaard.
Here is the Springbok Rugby World Cup squad for 2015, which is now official:

WP Nel is due to start a test match for Scotland for the 1st time when they face Italy at BT Murrayfield on Saturday. The burly tighthead prop from Loeriesfontein qualifies to play for Scotland on residency grounds, having played for Edinburgh for the last 3 years. Nel who earned his 1st Scotland cap against Italy in Turin last weekend when he came on as a substitute in the 47th minunte is 1 of 14 changes that has been made to the starting team.
Sean Lamont is the only player who retains his place in the starting line-up from last week with several players in the match day squad making their 1st appearance in this series of warm-up matches.
Head coach Vern Cotter announced his team today and the starting line-up appears to be close to what could be considered his 1st choice 15. The halfbacks and fullback look to be Cotter’s favoured choices while there may still be 1 or 2 changes on the wings and 1 at centre. Up front we are likely to be seeing the 1st choice tight 5 in action while there will possibly still be a change or 2 to the loose forward trio.

Friends and rugby supporters,
It would have flown by me totally, if I was not reminded by our friend, BrumbiesBoy, that Rugby-Talk.com celebrates it’s 6th Birthday today!
Dang, time has flown by fast!
6 Years old… ready for the BIG WORLD. I think this calls for celebrations and jubilation of epic proportions!
Let me put it bluntly, a heap of work and countless hours have gone into making Rugby-Talk.com what it is, there is simply no way around that. From time to time one wonders whether the effort is worthwhile, then there are the sudden real pleasurable occasions, like last night’s conversation where we went back in time about the start of TV in South Africa in 1976, or like a really busy Live Game discussion on match days, or when we see a fabulous rugby match and all take pleasure in the way our Sport is executed.
I have always followed through on things in life and Rugby-Talk.com is no different, may it continue forever…
We’ll continue enjoying Rugby Union as our Sport and here’s hoping that Rugby-Talk.com continues to grow from strenght to strenght and continues to make a valuable contribution to rugby!
Let me give you a little insight into where Rugby-Talk.com comes from and where it stands today…
Rugby-Talk.com started as a break-away from another rugby discussion web site, when myself and some friends were extremely unhappy about the degeneration of commenting on this other web site. We were not satisfied about the racial slurring, personal attacks and the total disinterest of that site’s management in curbing and arresting this trend. Needless to say, that site has since vanished from the interwebs.
Our initial goal of creating a more friendly rugby discussion environment meant that we set out with firm resolve to set a standard and good measure of control, according to the initial values we were striving for and those values have not changed. Even when it meant I had to shout at times and make myself unpopular, it was done AND it will continue to be done!
We will not be swayed to relax our stance, control and changing the successful formula of this web site, it is absolutely non-negotiable!
A pure hobby and friendly discussion amongst likeminded friends at Rugby-Talk.com exploded very rapidly into the beast we know today.

It is the 3rd and final Round of the abbreviated Rugby Championship of 2015 (Only 1 Round of matches against each side in 2015 as opposed to a double Round of matches against all sides – home and away in non Rugby World Cup years).
The last 2 games are both on Saturday 8 August.
The Action of the Round is kicked off in Sydney, Australia where the Wallabies and All Blacks dual it out for tournament honours and The Rugby Championship of 2015 concludes with the match between the Springboks against Los Pumas in Durban.
On Saturday at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney at 12:05 SA Time (20:05 AEST, 22:05 NZ Time, 10:05 GMT) referee Wayne Barnes of England is in charge in the Wallabies vs All Blacks game.
On Saturday at Growthpoint Kings Park in Durban at 17:05 SA Time (12:05 ARG Time, 10:05 GMT, Sunday 01:05 AEST, Sunday 03:05 NZ Time) referee Romain Poite of France is in charge of the Springboks vs Los Pumas game.
The game between the Wallabies and All Blacks has all to play for and should be a thriller of note. It is hard to imagine the Wallabies pipping the All Blacks though. All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has opted for a rather large number of changes to the All Blacks side, but the run-on side is a vastly experienced unit… with the return of Julian Savea, Sonny Bill Williams, Dan Carter, Aaron Smith all in the backline alone. The Wallabies see some old hands like Drew Mitchell, Matt Giteau & James Horwill return to the run-on side and also sees the pair of openside flankers of David Pocock and Michael Hooper in the looseforwards to try and dominate the ground ball situations against the All Blacks.
Both the Springboks and Los Pumas have made a number of changes to their run-on sides.
For the Springboks we see a return of Captain Jean de Villiers at No 13, with Jesse Kriel moving 1 wide to the right wing berth. Vincent Koch comes in for injured Jannie du Plessis at tighthead prop and Marcell Coetzee takes over at blindside flank from the injured Francois Louw. On the bench we see the return of Pieter-Steph du Toit from injury, as well as the return of Marcel van der Merwe, Siya Kolisi and Lwazi Mvovo.
The game between the Springboks should logically only go 1 way and that is with a comfortable win against Los Pumas.
