Round 3 of the Rugby Championship ended in heartbreak for the Springboks when they went down to Australia by 1 point in the final few minutes of what was not an entertaining match at all.
The referee, the yellow card to Bryan Habana, the failed touchfinder by Morné Steyn and various other reasons have already been dissected and discussed, so we won’t dwell on those.

ROSE KUPA: Expected a ‘harsher rap’.
The streaker who disrupted Napier’s first All Blacks test in almost two decades sparked security concerns and soured an otherwise “outstanding” event the city’s leaders hope to repeat.
All Blacks coach Steve Hansen labelled 25-year-old streaker Rose Kupa’s antics “a pain in the backside” after Saturday’s test match, while Israel Dagg laughed off the slap on the bum Kupa gave him as she dashed past.

Michael Cheika’s re-negotiations with New South Wales Waratahs remain murky, with Ruck’n Maul hearing that Argentina have once again upped their bid to lure the Super Rugby-winning coach.
Our Waratahs snouts say that Argentine officials have told Cheika to “name his price” as they are relentlessly pursuing him to be the country’s director of rugby for the next four years.
The deal includes accommodation, incentives, cars, and schooling for his children.
The Waratahs, meanwhile, have tried lately to entice Cheika by inviting him and his wife to a dinner with the board members. “He has declined the feed,” said one well-connected source.
This weekend sees the resumption of The Rugby Championship with the All Blacks hosting the Pumas in Napier and the Springboks traveling to Perth to face the Wallabies.
Last weekend we had the Round 4 of the ABSA Currie Cup and there has been some movement at the top of the Rugby-Talk SuperBru group.
The 6 Important games we focus on which are played this weekend, consists of the 2 Rugby Championship Test matches as well as 4 ABSA Currie Cup Premier Division matches.

If you had asked Wallabies fans at the start of the year if they’d be happy with three wins, a draw and a loss to start the season nearly everyone would have replied in the affirmative.
Last week you might have thought the sky was falling given the angst of many Wallaby supporters.
This week we have a different challenge. The South African Barbecuing Behemoths have sashayed into Perth for what many of them think is a home game.

It is 1 September 2014… and yes, 2 thirds of the year has flown by already… in the blink of an eye!
1 September is Spring Day in the Southern Hemisphere, a time for regeneration, rejuvination, renewal and a general litf in the mood after yet another winter has come and gone.
It’s not a good idea to get in Ben’s way, even if you are the referee.
Waikato prop Ben Tameifuna has been cited for acting against the spirit of good sportsmanship, after referee Glen Jackson was allegedly shoved.
The incident occurred during Waikato’s Week 3 NPC Cup match against North Habour at QBE Stadium on Saturday. The alleged incident occurred in the 72nd minute of the match when Jackson was knocked off his feet.
The incident was noted by Citing Commissioner John Wootton. Tameifuna has been cited under law 10.4 (m) which deems that a player must not do anything that is against the spirit of good sportsmanship in the playing enclosure. His case will be heard on Wednesday September 3, by Judicial Officer Chris Morris by video conference.

World Cup winning All Blacks halfback Piri Weepu has begun his overseas rugby career as a water-boy, promising a selfless attitude as he tries to help London Welsh establish themselves in the English Premiership.
Weepu said he would bring a team-first approach to a club freshly promoted and looking to do better than their last stay at the top that lasted just one season. And he’s already proved that by running the water bottles in a pre-season match.
“I’m here to push this club as hard as I can and I’ll do everything possible for the team,” Weepu told The Rugby Paper website as his arrival in Britain drew attention ahead of this weekend’s season kickoff.
“Everything is about the team, not the individual, and if someone’s not pulling their weight, including me, I hope they’ll say it.

DON’T CALL US
During their 1978 tour of Australia, the great Welsh team of that era tried all sorts of devious methods to get freebie phone calls through to their wives and loved ones back home. The players resorted to tricks like asking restaurant proprietors if they could use the phone — and then calling the other side of the world when the proprietor thought they were ringing a local number. Prop forward Charlie Faulkner — a not-so-bright member of the legendary Pontypool front row — opted for a different tactic at the reception that followed the first Test match in Brisbane.
Readers of R-T might recall that last week we ran a series of articles related to the ALS ice bucket challenges.
It started off with Joost van der Westhuizen doing the challenge and featured the Wallabies and Springbok team.
Well, it seems as if not all these challenges go according to script.

Round 2 of The Rugby Championship and Round 3 of the Currie Cup is done and dusted!
No real surprises with the results, except the huge margin the All Blacks smashed the Wallabies by, and the fact that the Bokke hardly scraped their way to a 2 point win.
The Springboks have struggled in Argentina the past three years, but most pundits thought the Bokke would at least still be closer to a 10 point margin better than the Pumas, even on a bad day.

The NRL’s refereeing crisis went from bad to worse on Friday night, after a ridiculous sin-binning of Brisbane backrower Matt Gillett for an offside call that Phil Gould labelled “the greatest clanger I’ve ever seen”.
After Benji Marshall restarted from a penalty and sprinted towards the Brisbane defence where he was tackled by Justin Hodges, referee Ben Cummins called Gillett offside — even though he had retired almost 30m back after Marshall’s quick tap.

A huge brawl broke out at the end of a game in the league formerly known as the Lingerie Football League with fists, helmets and insults flying freely.
Eastern Conference rivals the Atlanta Steam and Jacksonville Breeze had fought out a tense conference championship game and emotions boiled over at the end of the game as teams lined up for the end-of-game handshakes.

It seems unlikely Mickey Rourke and Gareth Thomas would be mistaken for one another.
Three years after he first told the press he was in discussions to play former rugby player Gareth Thomas in a film, Hollywood star Mickey Rourke has said that the project remains a possibility.
In early 2011 Rourke, who turns 62 next month, explained he had been inspired by Thomas’ decision to come out as gay while at the top of his sport.
He said he would need to train for “nine to eleven months” adding: “I am a good enough actor and I can look fit enough to play the game and that’s what it’s all about.

The Blues and All Blacks flanker got stuck into his workout routine in this dashing baby blue netball outfit at Unitec yesterday, all in the name of charity.
Kaino is one of four ambassadors of the Child Cancer foundation who were challenged to carry out crazy acts in order to raise money for the One Day for Child Cancer Ambassador Challenge.
