Bit of sad news… I see Dan Vickerman, former Wallaby lock (who played for the Wallabies till 2011) has died, aged 37.

Although the cause of death is not known, it is known that he suffered from depression and it is thought that he committed suicide.

Rest In Peace, rugby man… and condolences to his wife and kids and family and friends.

Dan Vickerman was born in South Africa and went to Aussie in 2001.

It is wet, wet, wet in the northern parts of our country… it is raining like crazy here on the East Rand, so I suppose much the same in Johannesburg where UJ and Tuks will meet at 19:00… if at all.

Bloemfontein also seems to be wet beyond belief for this CUT-Ixias vs UFS-Shimlas game with BIGGGG puddles of water all over the pitch.

Seems we are in for ugly rugby today, if indeed the games take place today!

Super Rugby is not far away at all, with the 1st game on THURSDAY morning 23 February (SA Time) already…

On Friday we have an additional 2 games and on Saturday morning the action starts bright and breezy at 06:10 SA Time… till the last game at 19:00 SA Time when the Stormers and Bulls meet in Cape Town.

It seems like the CUT-Ixias vs UFS-Shimlas game will indeed go ahead… and maybe I was wrong, Bloemfontein seems to be dry from TV footage now shown!!

  • 5

That is sad news about Vickerman. He did his move silently and without stirring up bad feelings like another person that moved around the same time.
