Nehe Milner-Skudder MUST BE the best running fullback in the world right now!

And may your team not lose too badly 😀

Happy for the Canes win though, Jerry Collins would be happy too, RIP

The IRB WC logo must be on the front.
Then SA teams must, it seems like, have the Protea on as well, therefor the Bok during WC tournaments must move due to the IRB logo.
I fail to see all the gnashing of teeth as if they dared to remove the Bok, it’s only during a WC tournament.

  • 95

I would rather complain about how ugly the jersey looks with all that extra yellow on the sleeve

Yep same thing happened in 2011, and from 2012-2015 the Springbok survived, We just need to accept that the Protea is the national emblem. People were equally unhappy when they tried to combine the logos… just be happy its still there, and even if they remove the logo it will ALWAYS be the springbok team and not the “proteas”, no one calls the all blacks the “ferns”.

  • 97

… that said, i already wont buy a springbok jersey… but if they removed the springbok emblem completely there is absolutely no chance… but i doubt it will be removed in the future, it is just temporary WR regulations, same for everyone else.

Exactly, that is the point.. the Protea is the national emblem and the bok does not give any more value to the jersey ….. if we consider the way in which the boks play these days they should in any event rather change the springbok to an elephant or rhinosaur as there is nothing elegant about rolling mauls which seems to be the main attacking weapon of most SA rugby teams.

Same as it will ALWAYS be the Springbok cricket team and not that other name. Disapproval

    And the soccer team? Wink

    @ MacroPolo:
Yep, not disagreeing about being called the Springboks, but it’s not a conspiracy or anything, it’s merely logistics for the WC.
I won’t buy the jersey because I’m not built for that Lycra material.
They might as well body paint the players before every game

    @ robzim:
    That too! Weary

    98 @ robzim:
I think that the team can play in whatever they like, but for a consumer buying merchandise, that value is completely linked to the springbok emblem IMO.

The Rhinos are already taken, the Rugby League team 😆

    99 @ BrumbiesBoy:
I prefer that the cricket team has their own identity, though Proteas refers in the maintream to the cricket team, it would actually be nice if every sporting team can identify with their own identity.

It would be boring to call all our sporting teams Springboks/Proteas.

The rugby team has traditionally been called the springboks for over a century, and the name itself is rooted in springbok rugby history, So personally i feel the cricket team has no right to the tag.

This is damn hilarious, making fun of modern radio stations 😀

If you REALLY believe that, then you are entitled for your opinion 😉 😉
I believe that the sooner they remove the Springbok name and the emblem the better
    😕

    @ Hondo:
My observation is not based on opinion, but on fact.
The Bok is on the sleeve only for the WC tournaments

  • 108

    @ Hondo:
Did you not say the same thing in 2011?

  • 109

    @ Hondo:
In 2016, the Bok emblem will be in front again…and in 2017…and in 2018…and in 2019, EXEPT during the RC.

Mind you, the Bok emblem will be in the front of the jersey during the RC later this year. Wink

    RC = RWC

    Where is the fact?
It’s rather a supposition on your side?
    😉

    I did
The Boks emblem’s size however is shrinking and being moved around
Have you noticed the same happened with the ABs?
    or with the Wallabies??
    Or with The Frogs???
    just asking
    😉

Een van die dae kan ons dit maar net sowel die Springkaan noem,

Hy gaan so klein wees dat hy maklik vir ‘n insek aangesien kan word

Springbok logo at Rugby World Cup events
To assist media in reporting of the placement of the Springbok logo on the team’s Rugby World Cup jersey, all are reminded that this temporary relocation – as well as the logos scaling – are to conform to the contractual requirements of the tournament organisers.
This placement only applies to World Rugby events and was first communicated by SARU in October 2010. The Springbok logo has been placed on the left sleeve of the playing jersey at all subsequent Rugby World Cup men’s women’s, Sevens and Under-20 tournaments. Other nations – such as Australia – also relocate their team emblem to the jersey sleeve for World Cup events.
The placement is not determined by the apparel sponsor; it is an inevitable consequence of the current regulations.
