Patrick Lambie

Patrick Lambie

Cell C Sharks and Springbok flyhalf Patrick Lambie has been ruled out for 6 weeks, following a neck injury sustained against the Crusaders in their humiliating defeat by the Crusaders in Durban during Round 8 of Super Rugby.

Lambie has suffered a neck vertebrae injury, which saw him leave the field and replaced by Fred Zeilinga during the game on the weekend.

The Sharks have now lost no less than 4 leaders, with regular skipper Bismark Du Plessis still suspended, as is Frans Steyn.

Jean Deysel has received a hefty 7 week suspension for his deliberate knee to the head of Crusaders flank Matt Todd, and now the crucial blow of Lambie.

The Sharks next trip will be to Emirates Airline Park, where they will have to face the current in-form team of the South African rugby conference – The Emirates Lions.

The Johannesburg outfit, who can do nothing wrong in they eyes of the nations public, will be licking their lips with the depleted Sharks team.

Zeilinga will most likely be the replacement pivot for the Sharks.

The young flyhalf will have to step-up in the No 10 jersey and take this chance to prove his worth.

Lionel Cronjé may also get some much desired Super Rugby game-time with the promotion of Zeilinga to the starting 15.

The Sharks will now seek a 4th captain to lead the ill-disciplined Durban Franchise.

    @ BrumbiesBoy:

Your Cousin is something of a folk hero here in NZ now BB.

    😉

Even better…………………….a well rounded human being who will not speak ill of opponent. No matter how they try to insult him.

    A class act.

    @ gunther:
That’s a shame, because Puma is/was among the very best of all you lot.
A Gentleman of the highest order…………………….in my opinion.
    .
    We should embrace our differences,
    Without them,
    there is no debate.
    .
    Only repetitious tedium.

He must be a very distant cousin then.

I am a sensitive man myself Gunna.
And I know deep down……………………….very deep down………………………….make that …………………………………..extremely deep down.
You are a sensitive man yourself.

    But hey………………..we are all different.
And that’s the way it should be.

    @ gunther:

    Indeed.

    😉

    Half a world in fact.

Cheers mate, it’s in the genes!!!

    Happy-Grin

On a serious note though; I read how the Aussies (esp Haddin?) were trying to rile him…sledges like: “Don’t be like a Saffa now and choke”!!!
    or
“Waasamata mate, not good enough for the P……, hey”? (I refuse to refer to the Springbok cricket team by THAT name).

Big mouth Aussies, but you godda give it to them; they know how to chirp!!!

    @ BrumbiesBoy:

The most remembered (iconic), image of the ICC/CWC here in NZ,
is of Grant offering his hand to Morkel,
to lift him back to his feet,
after the last ball of the semi-final at Eden Park.

A gesture that said so much.

What a shame about old Pat. One of the few shinning lights(others being coetzee and Pstd). Cant see them bouncing back to beat the Lions. But hey stranger things have happened.

Who captained when Pat went off?

    Indeed those beautiful Saffa manners.

Kieran Read would have cocked his leg on old Snorkel.
