There were good wins for Edinburgh and Ulster in the PRO12 last night with South African players quite prominent in both. Ulster beat Leinster 26/10, with Ruan Pienaar scoring 16 points for Ulster via two conversions and 4 penalties.
Edinburgh 37/0 Zebre was the score at Murrayfield with a bonus point for Edinburgh who scored 5 tries. Cornel du Preez , who was back on the bench last week after months out injured, came on briefly in 1st half as temporary replacement for captain Coman and made an immediate impact running nicely and launching a good over the top pass to the backline for Andries Strauss to catch and a few passes later Dougie Fife ran in and scored Edinburgh’s 2nd try of the night. WP Nel was part of a dominant scrum and carried well and made some tackles and looked to be working quite hard in the loose, but as the game was unfolding I thought the pick of the Edinboere was Anton Bressler who was very impressive all round the park, low and behold he was named man of the match by Grayson Hart (the Edinburgh scrumhalf, who is going to Glasgow next year, who was commentating on the game). If the Boks have injury problems and need a good no 4 lock I think Bresler would do well as he has been getting better and better as the season has unfolded and formed just a good lock partnership at Edinburgh with Ben Toolis.
