Sarel Pretorius

The Toyota Cheetahs have named live-wire scrumhalf Sarel Pretorius in the starting 15 for their match against the Western Force in Perth on Saturday.

There are only 2 changes to the Cheetahs team, namely up front where BG Uys starts and Danie Mienie moving to the bench and at the back with Sarel Pretorius back in the starting line-up and Tian Meyer on the bench.

This will mark the 9th Super Rugby encounter between the 2 teams.

The Western Force is leading with 5 wins to the 3 wins of the Cheetahs.

It will also be the 4th time the teams meet at the NIB Stadium in Perth since the 1st encounter in 2007.

The last time the Force hosted the Cheetahs, the Bloemfontein based side won 19 / 10.

The Force, however, won the last match at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein, 23 / 16.

2 Responses to Super Rugby: Cheetahs name their team to play the Force in Perth

If there is ONE game on tour the Cheetahs could win, it is this one in Perth.

I would however still give the advantage to the Force, because the Cheetahs have been woeful in most facets of play…. their scrums suck, their lineouts are below par, and they keep leaking lots of tries against them.

And you would be right to do so for another reason as well – The Force at Perth is a bit of a bogey team for SA franchises:

The Force win only 38.46% of their home matches against all Super Rugby franchises,
    but
vs. SA franchises they win 50% of the time in Perth.
    AND
vs. the Cheetahs in Perth, the Force have won 2 of the 3 matches played …

So the Force is a ‘good thing’, yes?
