Handré Pollard and Rudy Paige suffered badly from cramp here towards the end, that is why they were subbed…. Tian Schoeman stood tall though!

In the interest of full disclosure I met with Greeff, the TMO, and according to his viewpoint there was nothing untoward about the pass.

Lol, I only got to see the one angle in the replays, Kriel was also running at a 45 degree angle (about) so that was where his momentum was moving… this is an interesting video
From what I heard though the ref was very poor, Sharks were lucky to escape two yellow cards, also the ref gave too many penalties against the bulls, clearly 😆
Im not saying it did not go forward, but momentum is a thing people often ignore.

Hi Angostura, as he does not have a Bulls contract then he should be easier to persuade to go join Jake, not good for depth of rugby in the area but we can’t sign everyone, although don’t know in this case if this is an opportunity missed by the Bulls. Bigger problem though is if he does go and likes it over there who knows how long it is before younger boet who is really good and just finding his way at the top level is persuaded to hop over. The only thing is they should not be going over because of Jake but because they really would want to go and play and experience life in France as who knows how long Jake will be there.
Great result in this game, certainly helped lift the spirits after the depressing sight of Italy beating Scotland. Thought we were cruising up 10 nil within first 15 minutes then went on to concede 22 points and only score a further 9 for the rest of the game. Luck played a part for Italy as they got that 7 pointer instead of nothing when the penalty kick bounced back of the bar and their player did so well following up to work the ball over the line, BUT we should have been able to overcome that especially seeing how well we played against France and Wales. Kept waiting in the second half for us to become dominant, as Italy faded badly against England, but it never came. With games against Ireland and England coming up we can play a role as spoilers for the title contenders but will have to lift our game a lot, otherwise I can go down and help varnish the wooden spoon that will appear in our trophy cabinet.
Interesting stats about the Cheetahs game, so much for them being loved as so many peoples second team as the free running spirit of SA rugby, at the end the important thing was the scoreboard:

Cheetahs deserve applause for pulling that win off looking at the stats, incredible defensive effort one almost thinks the numbers are incorrect with the Cheetahs making more than 100 tackles more than the Blues, or were the Blues just that inept with all the possession they had?
I watched the second half… and I must say, its hard to single out players who were better than the good, so it must have been an excellent game.
But I must say, as critical as I have been over Jacque Dup over the last time, he was phenomenal! as well as Stegmann, conceded a few penalties too many, but the physicality of these two was excellent.
Everyone wrote Paige off, and with the increased benefit that our forwards were not playing touch rugby, he also deserves praise.
Next week will be tough against the Cheets.

Those stats are telling, the Blues only needed to make 29 tackles and they still lost, their finishing was woeful, if they had any form they could have put 40-50 on the Cheetahs, but that said, the Cheetahs use their chances well, those tries from Hendricks, especially that second one, where he gets tackled , offloads and in the same movement jumps up, gathers the pass and still drives through a few tackles… that try was better than anything you would see at any Barbarians rugby match.

lol that high tackle would have had the people on Newlands booing for ten minutes. Also I wonder what the TMO’s decision would have been on that final pass?
I made my comment because of the way Willie, Corniel and Venter threw the ball around, looked like the Harlem Globetrotters almost as if it was an exhibition match.
