David Pocock

The Australian Rugby Union has issued a formal written warning to David Pocock following his arrest on Sunday.

In a statement published on Monday afternoon, the ARU said, “While we appreciate David has personal views on a range of matters, we’ve made it clear that we expect his priority to be ensuring he can fulfil his role as a high-performance athlete.

“The matter is now subject to legal proceedings and we will now let the legal process take its course.”

Pocock’s Super Rugby club, the Brumbies, also released a statement saying they were aware of the player being arrested in northern New South Wales and that he was subsequently found to be in breach of the ARU’s Code of Conduct.

“Although I’m aware of David’s passion and concern for environmental issues, he has clearly breached the ARU’s Code of Conduct and put the Brumbies in a difficult situation,” Chief Executive, Doug Edwards said.

“The matter will be dealt with by the NSW Police, so we are not at liberty to make any further comments at this stage.”

Pocock resumed pre-season training with the Brumbies on Monday morning.

    @ leon:Hi pal
in my wild and wooly youth,I too was”arrested”(Inverted commas
    signifies hyperbole”)
20+ years old, loins laden with lust ,I went to a jol in Greenpoint).
Midnight, sexually unsatisfied,I determined to get the last bus
to the city, from where I would go to Claremont where I lived)
Huff Puff. made it despite best efforts of bus driver and conductor.
Strenuous physical activity and inebriation do not good companions.make.
At the first lurch of the bus,I ,the booze, and the junk food ingested,
decided to part company. The dowager,in the seat in front of me,
and the fox stole she wore bore the full brunt of my release.
Will never forget her reproachful look and beady eyes of the stole.
Any way, to shorten this story, made it on foot as far as Leerdam
(The Castle for the ill informed)and decided that unable to
to proceed further, that would be my abode for the night.
It is a very difficult building to access, despite lack of razor
wire and electric fencing, and I fell many timesAfter several falls,a kindly Constable Plod, who had obviously noted my attempts at egress with wry Sunday morning humour, read me my rights,
and took me to the charge office.Released with smirks and guffaws.
    No Pockock.I.
    Regards.

    @ ryecatcher:
He he. The good all bad days. I also have lots of those, especially my old army days. Awol for the night, leopard crawl and jumping over walls to get out. We had to get our timing perfectly to avoid the guards. When we got back, we were strong. We walked in at the front gate. No one dared to stop us. The good old bad days. We nearly got arested by the mp’s once, but we were to fast. He he
