Siya Kolisi

Fuelled by the enjoyment factor having returned to his game, Springbok flank Siya Kolisi has listed regaining his Stormers starting berth as first target for 2015.

This was among the 23-year-old’s revelations.

The current year has been an awkward one for Kolisi, marked first by a loss of form in the Super Rugby season and then a new injury midway through the Currie Cup just as he was regaining his zest and best form.

Zwide-born Kolisi believes there is finally light at the end of the tunnel after his knee ligament mishap suffered against the Golden Lions at Ellis Park in mid-September:  “It’s getting better… it’s been a frustrating few weeks but I am expecting to start running again very shortly, probably in another two weeks.

“My Super Rugby season didn’t go well but when the Currie Cup came around my confidence was right up again; (so) the latest injury wasn’t very (welcome). My focus will be to get as fit as possible to get a place back in the Stormers starting line-up next season.

“In the Currie Cup I felt I was doing everything again… running, stealing, defending well, reading the game quite well. So I just want to get back to my peak fitness-wise, have the mental strength back and just be happy playing rugby.

“When I went through that period of not playing well I was taking things too seriously; somehow the enjoyment had gone… until I started playing Currie Cup.”

Kolisi has 10 Bok caps, all of them as a substitute so far, and his last appearance was in the closing stages of the 19-10 triumph over France in Paris late last year.
