Boland Cavaliers

Boland Cavaliers coach Abe Davids has been suspended by the union after it emerged he had faked his qualifications.

According to the SA Rugbymag website, the union’s board has issued the suspension pending the outcome of a disciplinary investigation into his alleged coaching qualifications.

Davids, who is the brother of Boland president Francois, was appointed as Cavaliers head coach in September last year.

At the time of his appointment, Davids was given the opportunity to provide proof of the qualification, but the evidence has not been presented and inquiries to the IRB and SARU have confirmed that he did not have the IRB Level 3 coaching qualification at that stage.

The Boland Cavaliers are currently competing in the Currie Cup First Division where they are second from bottom on the overall log, having won only two out of eight matches.

They lost their most recent match 32-25 to the Falcons in Wellington last weekend.

Boland won the CC 1st div only 3 seasons ago (2011) beating the Kings 43 – 12 in the final.

Loffie Eloff was still coach then if my memory is correct.

    WTF is going on now?

    Beats me.
I wonder what Hennie le Roux, Piet van Zyl, RaymondB, Cornall, Lobberts and those other Bolanders think about this kukspul back home….

@30 Faark, every year same story for two days… SARS, auditor, Nedbank, Corner Bar (while wife is shopping at P&P)…this is our main town for serious business, Paarl.

    Eish anyway.

    Got to roll gents.

Got a meeting at Waterval Smelter tomorrow morning early and still need to get everything prepared, included the excuses why the parts are only arriving from Europe at the end of January for a December shut down.

I can feel the arse kicking already.

Anyway, I will be down in that valley over the next 10 days or so

If I knew you were going to be in the Karoo for the school holidays I’d head down to CAO and buy you a cold one in Blikkes!

Ja, Basil Banos, across from the white church on town square, hehehe!

    @ Pietman:
    Panos, not Banos.

At least you can pop into the Corner Bar. Saudi all you can do is catch the flies and count the grains of sand.

    @ Scrumdown:
Cheers, I am also out for now.

    @ Scrumdown:
Actually, it is the Crown Bar, known to all locals as the Corner.

If that was because of AA, why do you think this happened?

Cape Town – A top Sharks executive has been suspended amid reports of maladministration at the union after a forensic investigation of its financial affairs.

According to The Mercury, internal procedures are under way between the Sharks and the official, who has been with the franchise for more than 21 years.

News of maladministration at the Sharks surfaced earlier this year when auditing company KPMG was called upon to investigate matters.

The allegations were believed to revolve around unauthorised benefits being handed to at least one senior staff member.

KwaZulu-Natal Rugby Union president Graham Mackenzie confirmed the official’s suspension, but could not disclose any details.

I wonder what qualification Pine Pienaar has?…or Ludeke for that matter?

Will Matfield be able to complete his IRB level 3 before he takes up his coaching role at the Bulls in 2016 now that he is playing full time again?

And no, I don’t condone what Davids did. In fact, they should sommer investigate what hand Kaballie played in his appointment too. Kick him to the curb as well if they find any wrongdoing on his part.

Hey dit is onnodig om die Bulle aan te vat. Disapproval

  • 43

    @ Nama:
I don’t think the issue is his qualifications as such, but listing something as a qualification when you don’t have it, that’s fraud.

    @ MacroBok:
Daar moet ‘n rede wees waarom hulle so kak doen in die CC. Wink

    @ nortierd:
Ek verstaan dit en stem saam.

    @ nortierd:
Good points – both of these.

    @ nortierd:

    Correct.

Otherwise we could all sommer pretend we thought we were doctors.

    @ Nama:
Doesn’t matter what their qualifications are.
What matters is that they don’t lie about what qualifications they do have.

And then when queried about it on numerous occasions and then taken even higher to SARU that they don’t try to cover for the lies.

The Sharks matter was brought up INTERNALLY where the new board members thought it prudent to query some shady goings on in the Union with the previous board.
That’s actually how professional outfits manage potential frauds.
Not by lying and cover ups.

Is Victor Matfield still involved with the Boland RU?

  • 52

    @ John Galt:
OK John, my mentioning of Pine, Ludeke and Matfiels was suppose to be a joke. Macro got it, you didn’t.

Afa the article goes, and the one about the Sharks that I quoted, I agree that Davids acted fraudulently given the facts as we have it. My problem relates to the fact that his fraudulent action was immediately linked to
“AA” / “Nkandla”, while there was absolutely nothing said about another article re fraud in rugby yesterday.

  • 53

how come “pending the outcome of a disciplinary investigation” Abe Davids is named…?

    but

“with internal procedures underway” the Sharks official is not…?

  • 54

    yet both are suspended….?

  • 55

    @ John Galt:
Oh yes, there was something like that a few years ago. Him and PdV, together with some others, bought shares in Boland.

  • 56

I would still like to know whether a IRB Level 3 coaching qualification is a prerequisite for a provincial coaching job in SA or does it differ from province to province?

If it is not compulsory, why was it expected of Davids to produce one?

  • 57

    @ gunther:
    Good afternoon Herr Doctor Gunther
    😆

  • 58

    @ Nama:
As I understand it from reading similar articles on other websites, his level 3 was one of the reasons that he was appointed in the first place, apparently he was the only candidate with that qualification.

It doesn’t say that it was a requirement, rather that he had lied on his CV.

It’s possible I suppose that he may not have gotten the job if the evaluation panel (assisted by Dawie Theron) had known the truth.

  • 59

    48 @ Nama:

  • 60

    @ John Galt:

    Don’t be like that.

    😆
