Anton Bresler
Sharks lock Anton Bresler has signed a three-year deal with Scottish side, Edinburgh.
Edinburgh, who are coached by South African Alan Solomons, announced the news via their official website on Wednesday.
Bresler, who has played 39 Super Rugby games for the Sharks, will join his new team after the completion of this year’s Super Rugby competition.

Solomons said they were delighted to have secured Bresler’s services.
“Anton is a player who, despite being just 26, has been a regular in the Sharks starting line-up for the past three to four years.”
“The Sharks are probably South Africa’s strongest franchise and are currently second in Super Rugby, which allows us to appreciate the quality of Anton as a player.”
“He is a big, powerful and abrasive player. He’s a front of the lineout jumper and I would describe him as more of an enforcer lock.”
“I think he will form a very good partnership with Grant Gilchrist and will add a lot of value to Edinburgh Rugby.”

He will add to lock depth at Edinburgh which was looking a bit thin but recently they announced Fraser McKenzie (a Scot so qualified to play for Scotland) is joining them. Interesting both of them are 26.
We have been talking about Bresler coming to Edinburgh for a while now so surprised that it’s only making news today, maybe its only now they have officially announced it.
Interesting to note he has signed on a 3 year contract seems like he is being earmarked as another ‘project player’ ie. someone who potentially play for Scotland once he has stayed for 3 years…

The age of the guys getting signed up is getting younger and younger which is the most worrying thing. These days a guy will decide after 3 years of Super rugby or so, if I’m not in the Bok coach’s sights, then I might as well make the move. And it is not just for the super bucks but for the possible opportunity of playing international rugby.
We’re bound to hear more and more of this going forward. That’s the reality.
I see the Bulls hooker Bongi Mbonambi might be joining Stormers…
