Brumbu Jack

Brumby Jack, merely a show pony, says Tah Man

Waratahs mascot Tah Man has weighed into the controversy over Brumby Jack’s presence at the Super Rugby semi-final, declaring Allianz Stadium a showpony-free zone this weekend.

As the Brumbies and Waratahs tried desperately to defuse the furore surrounding Brumby Jack’s sideline “ban”, the high-strung NSW mascot could not help fanning the fire. “I love animals and horses but I’m not a fan of showponies,” Tah Man told Fairfax Media.

Meanwhile, it emerged on Wednesday that the Brumbies themselves had been guilty of going to great lengths to protect their home-ground advantage. A spokesman confirmed Tah Man was denied access to Canberra Stadium in 2011, which worked against them when giant NSW second-rower Sitaleki Timani crossed for the match-winning try in the 80th minute.

Tah Man is no fan of show ponies

That fact alone should quell a potential Brumbies supporters’ revolt on Saturday. But if not, Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie provided another reason to dismiss the controversy as horseplay. McKenzie confirmed the Waratahs had denied sideline access to Brumby Jack before, in a regular season match during his reign.

“This debate’s actually happened before, so I’m familiar with it,” McKenzie said. “Brumby Jack was consigned to the grandstand then, so there’s some consistency. He’ll do his best from the grandstand. That’s what happens when you travel, you don’t get all the mod-cons.”

    Howzit Caner!
Your take on Sharks/Saders….objectively speaking as far as possible, please.

    @ Pietman:

A very very close game Pieterman.

The Crusaders are at virtual full strength………………….. so no excuses from them on that front,………………………………………….. should they lose.
Home advantage seems to be the most decisive factor in these “Finals Matches”. So I’ll go the Crusaders by 6.

The Sharks Forwards will try to drive the Crusaders forwards into the ground. (like they did to the Highlanders last week). They will kick at every opportunity from their own half, and play as much of the game in the Crusaders half as possible. With the ball or without it. They will rely heavily on Steyn and his most majestic boot.
Sharks have a BIG forward pack ……………………………….and IF they win, these are the Okes who will do it for them.

Crusaders on the other hand, will be ready for them. They have two game-breakers in the back line, and a solid forward pack that has, “been there and done that”.

ALSO……………………………..The Sharkies did them a favour by beating them with 13 Players in Round Robin Match. They will have no problem with motivation.

    Can’t fault that arguement.

Every year I say that if you hope to beat the ‘saders, youbetter hope you play them early in the season, ’cause that’s the best chance you’ve got.

They are masters at peaking at the “right” time.

I have a feeling in my water that they may well be much better than 6 points to the good on Sat’.

    Piet,

    Rider to the above.

Of the 4 Teams left. Any would be worthy Champions.
It might be nice to see a NEW Champion.

    Tahs or Sharkies.

    Tahs the perennial Under Achievers.
    or
Sharkies, the best Team that never has.

    @ Scrumdown:
    Unfortunatel Scummy.
It seems the deciding factor in these Matches is Home Advantage.
If the Sharkies win …………………………………..they will have earned their Final.
