Cobus ReinachThe Sharks face the Brumbies in Canberra this Saturday and Jake White again has selected a new midfield combination as Cobus Reinach and S’bura Sithole return to the starting line-up with Heimer Williams and Charl Mcleod being relegated to the bench.

Although the centre combination of Jordaan and Sithole seems a more “explosive one” it also could backfire as new combinations always take time to settle.

Cobus Reinach starts his first match since injuring himself against the Bulls in the Sharks 5 th game of the tournament. Charl McLeod rotates to the bench, having played almost every minute of the last 5 matches.

Other changes to the team sees Keegan Daniel in the starting line-up as Marcell Coetzee retuned back home after leaving the field early in last weekend’s clash with the Melbourne Rebels, having sustained a shoulder injury and Tera Mtembu moves onto the bench.

Cell C Sharks: 15 Lwazi Mvovo, 14 Odwa Ndungane, 13 S’bura Sithole, 12 Paul Jordaan, 11 JP Pietersen, 10 Frans Steyn, 9 Cobus Reinach, 8 Ryan Kankowski, 7 Jean Deysel, 6 Keegan Daniel, 5 Stephan Lewies, 4 Willem Alberts, 3 Jannie du Plessis, 2 Bismarck du Plessis (Captain), 1 Tendai Mtawarira
Replacements: 16 Kyle Cooper, 17 Dale Chadwick, 18 Lourens Adriaanse, 19 Etienne Oosthuizen, 20 Tera Mtembu, 21 Charl McLeod, 22 Heimar Williams, 23 SP Marais.

Good team. Just hope that Cobus is 100% over his injury. One small problem if we lose Steyn we will have no cover at flyhalf unless Jordaan can move there. Then who does the goal kicking? Think Jordaan can kick a bit and so too can Marais, well I think he can. So have to keep fingers crossed that Fransie does not pick up a injury, who has become one of our most important players to see us through the series. He has covered the whole season really well for us. Sure he does not get the backline away as well as Lambie or Fred, but he is solid as a ROCK for us. Feel if we lose him we are buried. Damn shame to lose Marcell for this tour as well, though Keegan did step up well last week just missed a few tackles which Marcel would never do, though I have faith in Keegs he will do the job.

    GO SHARKS…. 😎 🙂

I also understand why Jake has not got Swiel on the bench. He has been given a chance and really is not at this level just yet. He has struggled in each game. He will get there next year as he is a massive talent, just needs a full year of Senior CC. For now think he will only be used if we get more injuries.

Also keeping fingers crossed that S’Bura is 100% fit as he really stood up when given the chance. Great player. Going to be interesting to see both him and Jordaan at centre. Feel a bit for Heimar as he has played well, though Jordaan is better and feel so is S’Bura. Nice though to have a player like Heimar on the bench if we need him.

    @ Puma:
how did he struggle? the other backline players just isnt on the same level as him on attack. while he is getting over the advantage line the rest of the guys are all hanging back. or expecting a kick. If swiel was playing for the chiefs with reliable support runners hr would cause total and utter chaos on other teams defenses.

In South Africa we empathise that we want our players to offload in the tackle, but there is usually no one to offload to.

and considering how to sharks complained about lambie being forced to play a kicking game by Meyer and trying to mould him into a player that he just isnt, it is ironical that it is his tactical kicking the sharks miss and the same gameplan swiel is now being forced to play while he is an attacking player.
