StormersNicolas VergalloThe Stormers could have two Argentine players in their squad for next year’s Super Rugby competition.

Reports indicate that the Stormers are in negotiations to sign Argentina scrumhalf Nicolas Vergallo in an attempt to add depth to their scrumhalf ranks.

Vergallo, 30, played for the Kings in this year’s Super Rugby competition but was released from his contract following their relegation from the tournament.

Should Vergallo decide to move to Cape Town, he will join countryman, lock Manuel Carizza, as the second Argentine in the Stormers squad for 2014.

Vergallo boasts 33 caps for Argentina but didn’t feature in this year’s Rugby Championship. He currently plays for French club, Lyon.

He is a tiny player (1.68m and 79kg), but possesses a prodigious tactical boot which will be welcomed by the Stormers coaching staff as the two current scrumhalves – Nic Groom and Louis Schreuder – have struggled to assert themselves in that department.

So the Stormers can’t recruit locally based players?

    @ Lion4ever:
    Yes, and they have plenty!
Muller is the best scrummie in WP, and he doesn’t even get a mention. Soon he is going to be another Sadie, Jurgen Visser, Pollard, Clayton Blommetjie, Volmink, Pieter-Stef (and his brother, also going to Sharks) and a whole bunch of others in Europe.
How about Bolla Conradie? Oh sorry. I forgot, he left for Boland! Amazed
