Rory KockottRory Kockott seems to be the latest South African to sign with French club Toulon.

Kockott who currently plays for Castres is likely to join Toulon next season in a 3 year deal.

There is a lot of talk regarding the scrumhalf’s move to Toulon as Toulon already have a number of scrumhalves. The scrumhalves who already reside at the club includes Michael Claassens, Sebastian Tillous-Borde, Frederic Michalak and Nicolas Durand.

Nicolas Durand is however on loan from Perpignon and with Kockott joining the mix, this could see Nicolas Durand returning to Perpignon from his loan to Toulon.

There was also speculations earlier this year that Toulon was targeting current Springbok scrumhalf Ruan Pienaar, a deal which seems to be off the table now.

There is no secret to the fact that Kockott has become a fan favourite in France, as he has been playing extraordinary rugby. There has also been a lot of talk as to why Kockott has not received a Springbok call up.

Kockott, who was the top point scorer in the Top 14 last year, will most likely become a starting player at T0ulon, whilst there are rumours of Johnny Wilkinson’s resignation at the end of this season.

Kockott scored 376 points in the Top 14 last season, with 8 tries, 33 conversions and 90 penalties.
