PA PelserLegendary former Golden Lions coach Pieter Andries (PA) Pelser has passed away at the age of 89.

Reports indicate, Pelser died in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday.

Pelser, who played for the Junior Springboks, coached Transvaal (as the Lions were then known) to the Currie Cup title in 1972.

The former professor also coached RAU (now UJ) and Imola in Italy.

    I’ll always remember when you coached us at JOB’s in the early 90’s.

    It was truly amazing to train with you. Your training methodology has stuck with me to this day.

    I echo your sentiments; I met the man in 1992 he was introduced to me by another Icon Joe Saunderson . They don’t make them like that anymore.
