Willie le RouxGriquas will “definitely” draw on the experience of Springbok Willie le Roux for their crucial Promotion-Relegation match against the Pumas on Friday night.

Coach Pote Human said that Le Roux will be their key man when they take on the unbeaten Pumas in a game that may well be played for no reason at all.

If all indications are true, then SARU’s provinces are planning to overturn their decision to keep the Absa Currie Cup at six teams and will automatically add the Pumas and Kings in their next meeting.

But with that meeting still pending, the decision from their last meeting still stands, and therefore Griquas – and Le Roux – have to play this weekend.

The Bok winger will be a welcome addition to the team who will already miss both Rory Arnold and Leon Karemaker with injury, and will join his Bok team-mate Lourens Adriaanse in the side to help quell the Puma tide.

“The Pumas are playing some exceptional rugby at the moment, they have the momentum and are unbeaten, so we face a big challenge this weekend,” Human told supersport.com.

Human also rested Howard Mnisi, Steph Roberts, Ryno Barnes, Marnus Schoeman, Marnus Hugo and Francois Brummer for the match against the Lions and all of them should be back for this game against the Pumas.

Human said he will definitely “play our best available team.”

wait, hold on… am I missing something?
I thought that the Kings and Pumas are guaranteed a spot in next years’ Currie Cup? So why the need for a promotion relegation match?

I would change the CC to a competition that runs concurrently with the S15 competition.

The top 5 super teams games in the S15 counts as CC points too, in their bye weekends they play the 6th SA team who will make up the A section
The rest of SA or next 6 teams play in the same time a CC b division

Then the Top 8 play in a series of Quarter finals , semis and Final.

That will have to happen after a short break for possible S14 final play offs of the a division
