England and Australia meet on Wednesday at Edgebaston, Birmingham, in the third One Day International (ODI) of the current five match series. The match will be a day night affair with play scheduled to start at 15.00 South African Time.
Australia are currently 1-0 up in the five match series having comprehensively beaten England in the 2nd ODI at Old Trafford on Sunday. Australia batted first in that match and ended with 315/7 off their 50 overs with captain Michael Clarke top scoring with 105 runs off 102 deliveries. England capitulated to 227 all out in the 45th over with their top scorer being Kevin Pietersen who got 60 runs off 66 deliveries. The top wicket taker for Australia was opening bowler Clint Mc Kay with 3/47 off 9 overs and 2 balls.
The 1st ODI at Headingley on Friday was abandoned due to rain, without a single delivery being bowled.

England 31/2 after 7 overs. Johnson causing lots of problems with his pace…and Johnson has Trott LBW but Trott is reviewing the decision…
Commentators think umpire call will stand, ahh but then they see the ball pitched just outside leg stump.

Australia appeal for LBW but its given not out and Australia appealing, sound like ther may have been a bit of bat on it but maybe not, height may save him.
Not out, lucky man as there was not bat before pads and it sounds like the ball may have just clipped the top of the bails but TV umpire rules it not out.

Drinks break, I guess they have to stick to the regulations but with rain threatening to reduce the game it seems senseless, especially as its quite a cool day too. Eng 58/3 off 15 overs.

Still raining. Former England bowler Mathew Hoggard is retiring from cricket. He rates his performance against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2005 as his favourite performance – he took 12 wickets in the game, England went on to win that series 2-1.
