Trevor Nyakane has been dropped from the national squad for “repeated breaches of team protocol”.
It was announced on Sunday that Lourens Adriaanse and Piet van Zyl, who made his Test debut in June against Scotland in Nelspruit, have been added to the Springbok squad of 26 players that travelled to Argentina on Sunday.

Van Zyl comes in for seasoned scrumhalf Fourie du Preez, who is not available for the overseas legs of Rugby Championship.
The initial dispatch from the Bok camp did not elaborate on what the breaches were, but simply said Adriaanse replaces Nyakane following “repeated breaches of team protocol” by the latter.
However, in a later explanation on the Bok team’s official Twitter feed they stated: “No great scandal, folks. ‘Breach of protocol’ in Trevor’s case means missing flights, video session and trip to ORT this [Sunday] morning.”
The Springboks take on Argentina in Mendoza on Saturday in the second round of this competition.
Apart from Du Preez, the entire matchday 23 that comprehensively beat Argentina by 73-13 at Soccer City on Saturday has been retained.
Chiliboy Ralepelle, who injured his back during a gym session on Saturday morning, was ruled out of the tour.
Adriaanse will join the squad in Buenos Aires from Kimberley on Monday.
Van Zyl joined the squad in Johannesburg on Sunday.
The other two additional members to travel to Argentina are Marcell Coetzee (loose forward), who replaced Ralepelle, and Jano Vermaak (scrumhalf).
“We were only able to finalise the touring squad after the Test against Argentina at Soccer City on Saturday, as we had to assess the injury situation,” said Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer.
“We are allowed to travel with only 26 players and it was difficult to leave out a few of our squad members.
“The players that stay behind will benefit from game time in the Currie Cup and will certainly be in the selection frame when we select the squad for the squad to Brisbane and Auckland.”
Following the Springboks’ return from Argentina, the national selectors will discuss the touring squad of 28 that will travel to Australia and New Zealand for the third and fourth rounds of Rugby Championship.

Apparently Trevor Nyakane can’t stop eating… and is also unfit.

See Jannie and JJE are carrying slight injuries from Saturdays game. JJE with a groin injury and Jannie with a calf injury.
Would not risk Jannie at this stage if that injury is not 100% on Saturday. We need him for our away games against Oz and Nz. Start with Adriaanse he is a fantastic replacement and let Coenie cover Loosehead as Steenkamp was not great last week. If JJE is injured then hell have no idea what we will do. Probably have to move JdV to outside centre and start with Jan this week.
Anyhow still a few days to go so they might all be injury free come the end of the week.
Hope we start where we left off last Saturday. Though I think they will be tougher on their home ground. Still think Boks should pick up the bonus point again this week. Doubt we will put 60 past them again this week. I do expect the 4 tries though and the win.

Meyer’s plan falling in place

Cape Town – Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer is happy with the strides his team have made in last few months.
The Boks produced arguably their best performance in Meyer’s tenure when they demolished Argentina 73-13 in their Rugby Championship opener at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
It’s not only the scoreline which satisfied the coach, but also the way all the structures fell in place to produce the desired result.
“What made me very happy is the fact that we won eight out of eight scrums and 15 out of 15 lineouts. I think we’re starting to reach the point where we can compete with the best in the world up front,” Meyer told the Beeld website.
“Our defence is better than what is was in the beginning. I’m also happy with the way we’re now competing on the ground – and this team is very dangerous when it gets quick possession.
“Out tactical kicking is improving, and there are also more experienced players and continuity in the team as was the case on last year’s tour to England.
“Our bench has also become very strong – therefore I don’t view them as reserves but impact players,” said Meyer.
But the coach has warned his team not to underestimate Argentina this week.
“We have to keep our feet on the ground, and focus match for match. We used the wrong game plan in Mendoza last year (when they drew 16-all). We tried to play attractive rugby. That’s why we were clinical on Saturday.”
The Boks are currently in Buenos Aires preparing for Saturday’s clash against the Pumas in Mendoza.
Kick-off is at 21:10 (SA time).
We do have to put last weeks game perspective and remember we played Arg and not the ABs. However, I was still really impressed with our game and especially that we never let up and kept coming at them.
Like I said above I doubt we will put 60 past them again this week, I do expect us to win by 4 tries this week. WE have too as we know the ABs will get 4 tries against them home and away. So we need to stay close to them on the score board the whole way. Also we know now we have to go to Oz to win by 4 tries to stay with the ABs. We do that this could come down to who wins in Nz and at Ellis Park that will win the cup.
Exciting days ahead…. lol.

Also expect us to start with Ruan this week and not Vermaak. As I read that Meyer will always go with consistency and not change the team up.
I would have started with Vermaak. Anyhow just hope that Vermaak comes on with at least 35 minutes in the 2nd half. After watching Van Zyl in the June tests just think he is not at test level JUST yet. So expect it will be Vermaak on the bench.
