Livewire Bulls blindside flanker Jean Cook has also returned to his roots. The Cheetahs were keen to retain the young star back in 2011, but were unable to do so, due to financial constraints. The Cheetahs on field performances, have positively impacted on their financial resources too, which has enabled the contracting of more players.

Jean Cook made a profound impact off the bench for the Bulls, particularly in the matches versus the Griquas, and Western Province. His try against Western Province in particular was indicative of a player with X-factor. He joins fellow Bulls player Francois Venter at the Cheetahs after the conclusion of the Currie Cup. Despite his performances off the bench, he is likely to still be behind Jacques du Plessis, Jacques (Vleis) Engelbrecht, and Arno Botha in the pecking order at the Bulls.
His desire for more game time, together with the Cheetahs recent performances has prompted his move back to the Cheetahs. Cook has an impressive CV, and will be a welcome addition to the Cheetahs flank resources.
As for the Cheetahs, they had to find replacements for Frans Viljoen (Lyon) and Juan Smith (Toulon). Despite an impressive Super 15 tournament by the Cheetahs loose forwards, they still need quality back up players. Jean will compete with the likes of Lappies Labuschagne, Tertius Daniller, Davon Raubenheimer, Jonothan Adendorff, and Hilton Lobberts for a spot in the Cheetahs Super Rugby squad. The fact that he can also play lock, will enhance his prospects.

Ek het gedink Rudy was goed in die eerste game, maar het van die wal af in die sloot in gedonder die laaste 2 weke. Ek is maar net baie telleurgesteld, ek hoop hy kan terugkom.
Ek verstaan net nie hoekom die BB mediocrity so rewards nie, hoe kan ons JAcque Dup kies was all hype is net oor die hype en nie Cook wat ‘n veel beter speler is nie, met meer ervaring ens. Hoekom teken Pollard n kontrak vir 5 jaar?? het die bulle dit net gedoen omdat hy briljant is? of is dit net “peer pressure” oor die hype om die ou, en dan smyt hul Vermaak net weg.
Dit is net frustreerend wat daar aangaan.

Helps f-all if you buy all and sundry and can’t manage it, these are individuals with ambition and pride they are not items on the stock exchange.
Thought they would have learned after loosing CJ Stander.

Yep all these guys are being bought, and they may have an inflated ego at 19 already where they are angry for not making the first team.
I have heard rumors about Kobus Marais, who is a real star for the future, who is already looking for other opportunities because he is not picked. I hope it is not true though.

Oh no really disappointing news, normally I can wish players who have been with us for a while all the best when they depart but just can’t get myself to do it this time am so disappointed, thought Cook was a real star in the making, and having recently turned 22 still many of the best years of his rugby career ahead of him.

That’s not good news either MacroBull if the rumour is true, not seen him play but have read that Marais is pretty good. Is this just part of the society these days where the use of technology has got us used to things happening quickly, also there seems to be a sense of entitlement in many folk as well.
