Man Bidi, weet wat dink ek? Ons maak te n ophef van individuele spelers in SA. Dan maak ons staat op 3 of 4 ouens se briljantheid, instede van die SPAN. Kyk daai Kings van die Baai as voorbeeld, hulle speel as n hegte eenheid, nie as briljante enkelinge nie.
Die Bokkies se SPANWERK was vrotsig. En so ook die Bokke laas Saterdag op Nelspruit,
278: hoe waar is dit nie, dit is slegs in ‘n goeie spanverband wat ‘n goeie speler na vore kan kom. ‘n Span maak nooit net op een speler vertrou nie, en dit vat ‘n goeie afrigter om ‘n span saam te snoer tot ‘n kampioenspan, nie maklike werk nie.
Theron en Venter is goeie afrigters, maar hul kon van die begin af die span se balans nie reg kry nie, veral nie 1-3 en 9,10,12,13 nie.

Exactly agree. They looked listless no passion at all. Just look at the team last year they had it all. That final against the ABs was the game of the year for me. That was a brilliant Bokkie team. This team looked like they were not interested from the start. I just hope that Brendon Venter don’t come with that game plan to the Sharks. Expected better from him and also the head coach.

Baby Boks coach Dawie Theron has said that Wales executed their game plan better on the day and kept the young South Africans in their own half for most part of the match with accurate kicks in their 18-17 win over the defending champions in the IRB Junior World Championship semi-final in France.
“We knew they would test us with a kicking game and I must say they did extremely well to frustrate us by finding favourable field positions.
“They forced us to run from deep and then defended well, which frustrated us and, which in turn, led to some errors.
“I want to praise the efforts of the boys throughout the tournament and especially in this match.
“They came back twice from behind and in the end it really hurt to lose like that, with a conversion with almost the last kick of the match.
“I think their flyhalf kept his cool quite well to succeed with that kick,” said Theron.
Team captain, Ruan Steenkamp, echoed the words of his coach and praised the efforts of his team mates.
“We gave it our best effort but on the day it was not enough.
“They did their homework on us and never allowed us to create a platform for our backline.
“The boys are extremely disappointed because we are all very proud to represent our country.
The Baby Boks will now play in the third-place playoff against New Zealand, who lost 33-21 to England.
“We have one more match left to play and we will lift ourselves and play with pride.
“The defeat will hurt for a while, but we have our next match on Sunday and we will play as best as we can,” said Steenkamp.
Lock Irné Herbst, who scored South Africa’s first try, said the Welsh prevented his team mates from gaining the upper hand with some fierce tackling.
“We came back strongly in the scrums and competed well in the lineouts, but they persisted with their tactic to making us turn back with long kicks into our half.
“We tried our best and on the day it was unfortunately not good enough,” said Herbst.

Why is it that SA sports sides in general (apart from Banana Banana of course) seem to play well for 80% of the games, but in those crunch 20% MUST WIN games they strike a flat spin and end up fornicating the Kitty Cat?
Is it a mental thing (with both players and management), or is it just “bad luck? (Which I personally don’t believe in)
I reckon in this case the team and management just thought that this game would be a walk in the park and that tha big one would be against NZ in the final.
Once the game starts and the team is on the back foot, no ability to change the game plan and think on their feet. It’s not unique to the U20’s, or Rugby.
Ah well, “thanks for coming, please leave the trophy and shut the door.”

Honestly our scrums sucked, our guys like the senior Boks didn’t commit enough numbers to the breakdown, Jacques du Plessis should rather be playing lock, I wouldn’t have had Robert du Preez as our starting 10. He’s nothing out of the ordinary, and I feel he’s only there because of his dad. I do believe he has talent, but he needs to grow much in the decision making role. Rohan Janse van Rensburg is a much better inside centre than Handre Pollard, and Pollard is a much better fly-half than Robert du Preez. I sense we have too many different kicking coaches for our different players. Handre Pollard was very reliable in the Varsity Cup, and even last year where he wasn’t always as accurate. But yeah I feel only Vlokkie or Derrick should be working with him. Rohan and Dries played together very well in the Vodacom Cup. Ungerer is shit. He’s like a new January. His passes bounce before getting to the fly-half. Our lineouts weren’t good either. Just overall very disappointed with the Baby Boks, but I think the coaching staff must take the flak on this one. Few very dumb nonesensical decisions by them.

VERY difficult to mix the two at top level IMO. Totally different defensive patterns. I was always sceptical about his defensive potential becase of it.
