Sharks centre Piet Lindeque is heading back to the Cheetahs to continue his rugby career in Bloemfontein.

The 22-year-old, who played outside centre for the Sharks against the Bulls in Durban last weekend, will join the Cheetahs in time for this year’s Currie Cup, reports the Volksblad website.
Lindeque was a star in Free State rugby in his junior days, representing Grey College and Free State schools as a centre. He was then snapped up by the Sharks where his career struggled to take off.
However, his career was reignited this year when Sharks allowed him to play for Tuks in the Varsity Cup. His solid form subsequently prompted a Super Rugby call-up for the Sharks.
With the Cheetahs experiencing their best Super-season to date, Lindeque feels he will fight right into their exciting playing style.
“Piet is ecstatic to return to the Free State,” said his agent, Jan-Harm van Wyk.
“It’s a positive move for his career and I know he enjoys the Cheetahs’ playing style… he believes it will enhance his game.”
Been a bit confused about Lindeque situation, so has he been under contract all along at Sharks and merely released/loned for a spell at Tukkies or did he become part of the Bulls set up when he was at Tukkies and then was loned back to Sharks with all their injuries?
All the best anyway to Lindeque and thanks for helping Tuks win the trophy. He looked quite a good player in the final. Guess for him its just a case of where he will get more game time, and that is probably at Free State, with quite a few centres (when back from injury) established at Sharks and at the Bulls we have a good crop of young centres too, Serfontein, William Small-Smith, and JJ seems to be making strides in his switch to centre while have also heard a lot about Rohan Janse v Rensburg etc.

Lindeque’s contract was not renewed with the Sharks at the end of last year and he went to the Bulls/Tuks, played a match for the Bulls VC side and then with the injury crises at the Sharks he was loaned to the Sharks.
He has as you see since decided not to return to Pretoria, but to return to his roots.
