A freak training incident has condemned Bok pivot to another session under the scalpel. According to team manager, Eugene van Wyk, Goosen slipped during training and injured the cruciate ligaments in his left knee.
It is a very serious injury, and MRI scans revealed that the cruciate ligament is torn off completely. This probably ends another promising season for the young Cheetahs star.

@ Loosehead:
Keep the faith bro, it is a big blow, but I like to think Naka took heed of last years implosion, and a repeat won’t be in the offing. Hopefully he will start involving Graaff when they get back home. I think that lad can play some good rugga.
@ grootblousmile:
Thanks GBS, it’s harsh, but if he has the grit he has displayed sofar. he will come back a better and stronger player (emotionally)

Will say here exactly what I said on the article about this on keo.
I really feel for Goosen. Just never seems to be injury free, must be so frustrating for him.
Don’t let this get you down Johan. Life throws somethings at us that actually makes us stronger. So have a speedy recovery and hope to see you back on the rugby field soon.

If his ligaments are torn right off he will be out for 9 months or even more. Shame feel for Johan. One injury after the other must be really frustrating for him. Hope he recovers fully.

this is not good….to have such horrific injuries at his age is career ending.
just makes me think back to last year when Naka didnt want him to play for the Boks because he felt Johan wasn’t match fit.

Feelsorry for him, but maybe Drotske has to start blooding someone else at 10. When Goosen has recovered, maybe he should use him as a back up for about a year, allowing him to play some rugby as his body strengthens to the level needed for Super Rugby and international rugby. It will also be up to his conditioning coaches strengthen him in the right areas.

The injury to Cheetahs flyhalf Johan Goosen is serious which means the Springbok faces another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The 20-year-old Goosen slipped and fell during training on Monday and according to a report on the supersport.com website, it is a serious cruciate ligament tear, which means at least six months on the sidelines.
“It was a freak accident,” Cheetahs team manager Eugene van Wyk told supersport. “He is a bit down, there was nobody near him at the time and he slipped while kicking balls during practice.”
Goosen is due to fly back on Thursday and will immediately undergo surgery to start his rehabilitation.

Pollard is doing nothing at the Bulls. They should loan him to the Cheetahs.
