Man, luckily I don’t deal with the Operations side of the business… never have to see a dead body or attend a funeral.
It happened by accident actually, one of my long time friends was working for a Funeral Company and complaining incessantly about what a shitty boss he had and how the guy was doing people in.
I said to him, why don’t you break away and work for yourself… anyway he did not have the moolah or business experience to do so.
So I said that maybe I should invest the cash and he can do all the work and we benefit 50 / 50 from the proceeds, with me handling all the money side of things because it is my investment at risk.
Anyway, I started doing some figures… and was amazed at the money there for the taking… so I’ve invested.
The BIG thing for me is to do it with INTEGRITY and not to do people in, whilst at the same time delivering a very necessary service without ripping the poephol out of people.
You’d be amazed how people get ripped off for coffins and caskets! Hell we buy coffins from R 300.00 and a relatively fance coffin sets us back R 950.00. We charge R 1950.0 for the coffin which costs R 950.00 whereas the unscrulpelous assholes charge up to R 5500.00 for the same thing. A Steel casket costs us about R 1600.00 and we sell it for just under R 3000.00 whereas some would sell it for R 9000.00.
Anyway, where there is money to be made with dignity, you might find me…. hehehe

Arghhh, it’s just an ancillary business. If it brings me an additional R 20 000.00 to R 30 000.00 a month, for the relatively small investment I made, then it means my initial investment is paid back in far less than a year and everything after that is pure profit.
Small price to pay for handling a few financial transactions a month and just keeping a tab on things and giving the others a bit of direction and advice and instructions.

I was on my 7-Days pass in the Defence Force… went down to Durban by the sea, my forks had a flat in the Belmont Building on the sea front (when Durban was still a hot destination to go to).
Went to one of the Night Clubs there, met a very, very sexy and forward young girl there, Lee, who taught me a few things I did not know… not that there were many that I did not already know at that age…
