on the tackles made, 2 players made more then Lambie, Flouw and EE on 21 each,

The one player that truly let us down was Ruan. Meyer has to look at the youngsters coming through next year.

Groom, Reinach, Van Zyl and if he prefers Vermaak as he is there he should give him a go in the June tests next year. Also don’t count out Hougaard yet either, if he gets plenty game time there for Bulls next year, he could get his game going there again.

Was just going to say that. Lambie made more tackles out of the backs, only Eben and Flo made more and it was marginal.

Eben and Flo both made 21 and Lambie 18. Lambie’s goal kicking was brilliant in those conditions. 100%

Just looking at it this way, had he missed even one kick we would have lost. So his 100% goal kicking was top class.

One thing was very clear, and that is that our backline needs to spend much more time together as they are not gelling at all, the few moves tried came to nothing, Maybe our backline coach needs replacing????
I am sitting here watching the game again, and twice now Lambie wanted to pass and found he had to hold onto the ball as the player he was wanting to pass to was not in a good position, by passing he would have put that player in trouble.

And I am even more sure that the ref was beyond pathetic in trying to help England,

People are quick to critizise Pat, they fail to see where he contributes huge, is in defence, he put in the hard work always. That was a area we were weak in epecially against the ABs they ran through our centre and fh channel at ease. Lambie’s defence is world class. His goal kicking in the worst conditions we have played in this year was brilliant. Only fh not to have missed any this year as well.

Pooms the stats show under the conditions that Ruan was not as bad as we think, he was far far better then Ben Youngs for a start.

I for one bashed him too yesterday, until I watched the matched again, My only concern with him was the speed of clearing out at times, although watching again England managed to slow down our ball a lot at the breakdowns

And yeah he kicked 13 times to Lambies 7, and of the 7 kicks Lambie made 3 were little kicks behind the English defense.

Jandre also had a much better mach this week.

Alberts did well in the lineouts too,

As for Penalties and T/Overs conceded? Alberts had nothing against his name

Boks HAVE to work on their backs. They don’t gel and that was evident yesterday. They need to work hard on it for next year. Also no use just working on it a week before a test. Somehow they should get a work out before then, have no idea how as the players will all be with their franchises.

It really would be good if a fh and scrumhalf came from the same franchise. That could help. Ruan was not great at all.

The Ref kept England in it for sure. I watched the game again this morning. I counted 9 points they got that should not have been, so really that try we got was justice for sure.

Just looked to me that Ruan was not up to it, even when I watched again this morning.

Also reading the English papers they said he had a poor game.

Pooms I agree Jannie got shafted by the Ref, but to be honest you can see he is drained. the stats show he was very poor in the half he played, I believe that’s one mistake HM did make in playing him

    @ Puma:

watch again then Pooms lol, watch how slow to ball comes out at every breakdown etc, and with them cheating in the scrums more so, and then also watch the offside line

    370 @ Sharks_forever:
He is damn tired, think he has played just about every game this year. That is WAY too much. The Ref did penalise him unfairly though.

Most the players are now dead on their feet. The year is way too long. Think it will always be this way, them dead tired coming here in June and the same for us going there on the eoyt. Global season is the way too go.

  • 373

Yeah , Jannie played 24 games this year, then take into account he missed the first for matches for the Sharks due to having just gotten married, that’s heavy on the body of a big man

That is true the ball at times was coming out the breakdowns slowly, though it also looked to me as if Ruan was faffing again there. A bit of both, I suppose. Still would like to see another scrummie tried out in the June tests next year. Then again, not sure if Meyer will start to change now. Think he wants for now to work with the players he has worked with this year. Well some still will get a look in but for now think he will want to stick with consistency.

That is a huge amount of playing time. Needs the load to be taken off next year. Think Plum will manage him well though with Herbst.

Cilliers was good when he came on yesterday. Stormers have done well to sign him.
