Carter is said to have been carrying a strain to his left calf this week but the medical staff believed he would recover in time to play.

After a training session on Thursday, a decision was taken to withdraw the 30-year-old as he had not fully recovered.

Aaron Cruden has been handed a starting spot in Carter’s absence, with Beauden Barrett providing cover off the wood.

    What a replacement to have!

Just shows what good depth the All Blacks have at flyhalf at the moment with two guys there in place of Carter who would probably walk into every other test team in the world. Good to see Beauden Barritt there on the bench, from what I’ve seen of him I think he can be a superb flyhalf for a long time for the All Blacks, not seen too much of Cruden but he must be good to be ahead of Barritt in the pecking order.

Enjoying watching some Paralympics athletics, Oscar Pistorious due up now in the 100m final an event he is not favourite for, GO OSCAR!

  • 4

Fellow South African Arno Fourie also lining up for the 100m

  • 5

Seems like British Jonny Peacock is the crowds favourite and has fatest personal best time!

  • 6

Peacock wins! Disapointment for Oscar missing out on medal but well done Arno Fourie who gets the bronze!

Pistorious got off to a slow start but came back strong in the last part of race to be just behind Fourie but very gracious from Oscar in interview praising Peacock and sounding really pleased for his mate Fourie getting bronze. Winning time was 10.9s. Oscar saying he is feeling quite tired after all the various races he has taken part this week, hope he has enough left in the tank to win his 400m race on Saturday.
