The Golden Lions Rugby Union announced the MTN Golden Lions team to play DHL Western Province on Saturday 25 August 2012 at Coca-Cola Park.
There are three changes to the starting line-up that played The Sharks in Durban last weekend:
- Butch James moves from Flyhalf to Inside Centre in place of Waylon Murray who sustained an injury, and following the return of Elton Jantjies from the Springboks
- Elton Jantjies replaces Butch James at Flyhalf
- Bandise Maku returns from injury and starts at Hooker in place of Callie Visagie who sustained an injury
- On the bench, there are two changes: Martin Bezuidenhout in place of Francois du Toit at Hooker and Deon Helberg in place of Guy Cronje at Utility Back
The team: 15 Andries Coetzee, 14 JR Esterhuizen, 13 Lionel Mapoe, 12 Butch James, 11 Anthony Volmink, 10 Elton Jantjies, 9 Michael Bondesio, 8 Warren Whiteley, 7 Joshua Strauss, 6 Cobus Grobbelaar, 5 Franco van der Merwe, 4 Hendrik Roodt, 3 Jacobie Adriaanse, 2 Bandise Maku, 1 JC Janse van Rensburg (Captain)

Be interesting to see if all the off field drama going on affects the Lions team this weekend, or whether players dont take any notice of that stuff, which I think is unlikely as it could affect them financially, I suppose just have to wait and see

Jeez people, there’s a strange bout of a tummy bug going around…. it attacks by means of the worst possible pain imaginable! The pain goes hand in hand with nausea and the runs.
On Tuesday I fought that pain, as I always refuse to go to the doctor but on Tuesday night I could not stand it any longer and went to the Emergency Ward of a local private hospital, where I was put on a drip for about an hour and a half… waiting for the pain to go.
Felt like red hot pokers in my tummy.
Eventually left the ER, on quite a nice buzz from the pain killers and slept well that night.
Luckily the bug does not last very long!
Yesterday it was my wife, Handbriekie’s turn…. damn she was under the weather and is still down today!
Some advice… if you have it… go to the doc, before it drives you bonkers!

Ag, it’s one of those things, nothing too serious… just a bug doing the rounds everywhere in SA now.
Generally I don’t get ill, I’m very fortunate in that way, before this I had not been to a doc for ages… apart from the stitches in January when I wrote my previous Blik Met Wiele off.
Proteas beat Gloucestershire on Wednesday with a much changed team captained by Faf du Plessis will be interesting to see who plays against England from that team. McClaren was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 wickets, Parnell got 2 wickets and joint top scored for Proteas with 41 off 31 balls, Albie Morkel took 2 wickets and scored 41 runs too but off 52 balls. Pity Faf didn’t do well.

Not sure when they think it will start Gbs don’t have the channel its on, but problem is there have been bits and pieces of rain affecting Cardiff on and off since this morning and more to come, if anything the rain should become heavier and more persistent in the next few hours, so just as thought yesteday I doubt there will be enough time for a game to be completed, but don’t know how many over constitutes a game and what their cut off time for ending is. Even when its not raining I would guess the ground would be quite damp so would struggle to dry out.
Just seen the cut-off time is 3.32pm our time (just an hour and a half away), guess that means the time by which a decision needs to be taken on when the game will go ahead or not, don’t hold your breath
For the 50 over game 20 overs per side constitutes a game.
Albie Morkel is apparently injured. Dale Steyn is also not in the side, an indication they are experimenting.
