In what is regarded as an significant coup for Cheetahs rugby, Volksblad reported this morning that it is confirmed that Johann Sadie, the promising WP star, who joined the Bulls  earlier this, is heading to Bloemfontein to join the Cheetahs. It is believed that he will flourish in the Cheetahs playing pattern. Lack of game time, and a host of other players in the center position at the Bulls led to the players frustration.

Whilst the Cheetahs are not involved in further participation of the Super 15, some interesting players signings bode well for the Cheetahs 2013 season. Of course more players will sign, and some will leave, but it is interesting to note the movements.

    Bulls talent scouts are awesome!!

He really never produced at the Bulls.

Let me say this before GBS wakes up: huursoldaat.

  • 3

Great news that. Think the Cheetahs style of play will suit him too, also he will get plenty game time there and that is exactly what he needs.

  • 4

How can you produce with limited playtime?

    @ Loosehead, Spoony and Puma,
Morning gents! lol, agree Loosehead, and if he can replicate his from that he showed prior to moving he can add great value. Now we need a few additions at lock, and a decent 10 in case Goosen gets injured. Sias’drop in form cost us big time.

    @ Cheetah4eva:
He should do well without Meisiekind banging every ball up.
2 locks and a decent back up flyhalf and we will do well.

Just hope the Sharks agents stay out of the Freestate this year

    6 @ Loosehead,

And add two seasons for Juan Smith to that wishlist.

A team like this will be delightful, and a good balance between the rapier and the broadsword:

    Marcel, Strauss, Coenie
    Willemse, Vermeulen
    Brüssow, Juan, Phillip vd Walt
    van Zyl, Goosen
le Roux, Ebersohn, Sadie, Jacobs/Vulindlu, Daniller

    Bench: Nyakane, Liebenberg, Ferreira, Labuschagne/Prinsloo, Rademan/Luiters, ANOther 10, Snyman/Strauss

    Your thoughts

    @ Cheetah4eva:
My thoughts are that it is bloody wet and cold in Slaapstad.

    Happy-Grin #9 @ Loosehead
Lol, must say, it would be sacriledge to complain. The Slowveld, is certainly not nearly as cold as Slaapstad, and Bloem.

Have never seen the man play but if he is as good as all the hype he came with suggested then it is a pity that he is not staying on to become a fixture in the Bulls team. If recall correctly he was in starting line up at the start of Super 15 and then got injured, perhaps he didn’t show the promise that was expected from him or he didn’t regain his form after the injury and so wasn’t first choice anymore.

Cheetah that is some list of players you have there, will you guys now be able to afford all of them. Interesting to note you have no fewer than a dozen centres in your list for the Cheetahs so much for the Bulls ‘stock piling loads of centres’ Wink and there also are 14 loose forwards there, I presume these are players you list for your senior squad or are these to cover u19 and u21 as well?

Oh its lekker to sleep with that lovely sound of water falling on your roof. You want some water Bloem?

    @ Bullscot:
There is a difference between stock piling tallent and stock piling Bulls left overs.

    12 @ Bully,
That is the beauty of the franchise system, many of those players are contracted to Griquas, but are available for the Cheetahs in the Super 15. Those are players from the two unions, from which the Cheetahs can draw. So the Cheetahs don’t need to pay them all lol.

Nope, although there are many youngsters, they are all available for the senior side. Still it’s some good talent to draw from, but Naka is still shy a back up 10, and a enforcer at 4. Ferreira is developing nicely, but, not quite yet in the mould of a Eztebeth.

Still the Cheetahs could have a formidable pack next year. The likes of Marcel, Strauss, and Coenie would make a very imposing front row, add some grunt in the back three which was missing this year, and we could be a real nuisance. A guy like Frans Viljoen, or hopefully Juan, to mentor young players like vd Walt, and Prinsloo
