A while back I offered to manage a selection competition where we at Rugby-Talk could show our knowledge of SA rugby and who can read Heyneke Meyer’s mind the best. Bok Barometer was the driving force in this idea. The first Test is on the 9th of June, less than 4 weeks away.
Herewith an idea to make selection easier for us. We could pick our team by picking one position per day. Something like this.

I would have Strauss and Marcell on the bench. And would start with Pat Cilliers at th. Just don’t see Meyer selecting these 3 unless there are injuries to the starting team I have at post 4.
Fark, what do all of you guys see in Andries Langbek?
This past weekend, for instance, the much less vaunted Cheetahs locks took 2 clear balls off Bekker in the lineouts…. and this is one example only.
How’s his general play, is it up to scratch at all?
Does he spend enough time doing what a tight forward is supposed to do?
Do you guys all like how much time he spends in the Stormers backline, mucking up great ball the Stormers backline should be able to run with?
Similarly I do not see the hype around Elstadt… hell give me Kolisi any day before him at Blindside Flank.
Nobody rating Joe Pietersen? Why not?
Nobody rate Patrick Celliers? Again, why not?
Ahhhh, possibly this is the side you think Heyneke Meyer will go with!

Stormers lost line out through ineptitude.
IMO, with Langbeck you just need to but the ball in the right place and he SHOULD win it. Throw it low, and he’s in trouble against a physical opponent.
Any tight forward worth his salt should not be seen dead in the backline. Finished and klaar.
I would pick Pietersen anytime. He’s been solid. I’m just not sure HM will choose him.
Pat Cilliers isn’t doing himself any favours playing in a shambolic Lions pack. K@k for me to say it, but that’s my honest opinion.

Not our team, but what we think Meyer will select.
Think the captain will be JdV. That would be a very good choice. Strauss is a better captain, but not sure he will get selected. Bissie and Chiliboy will get selected as our hookers. Well that is who I think Meyer will select.
Also never saw you mention why we all selected Spies???????????? No way is he our best 8 but he will get selected.
Wat dalk nie ‘n goeie teken is nie, is dat daar maar min spelers is wat ons almal oor gaan saamstem wie in die boksspan moet wees. In die verlede was daar omtrent 5 of 6 spelers wat hulself gekies het, nou omtrent geen nie.
Dit is seker net Hougaard op 9 wat almal oor sal saamstem, maar selfs met hom wil party hom op vleuel sien, nie skrummie nie.
Wat die res betref:
Party soek vir Joe, ander vir Bambie op heelagter
Vleuels stem niemand oor saam nie
Senters ook nie, in die noorde is die WO, onder toe is dit JDV
Loskkakel soek sekeres vir Bambie, ander vir Morne
Losvoorspelers kies niemand homself nie, ook nie slotte of voorye nie.
Op haker is daar verskil oor Bismark, Chili en Strauss
So op hierdie stadium is dit almal ‘n goeie klomp spelers, maar niemand uitstaande nie, behalwe Hougaard op skrummie.
Weet nie of dit ‘n goeie of slegte ding is nie ?
Sterkte aan HM, hy gaan vriende én vyande moet maak met sy seleksies.

Nie maklik om n bok span the kies nie….so baie potensiaal en soveel moontlikhede. Meyer is gelukkig in die sin dat hy kan kies en keur, en nog steeds met genoeg orige talent sit wat opgeroep kan word. Wanneer laas het SA rugby so belowend gelyk? Jy kan maklik twee vol bok spanne opmaak wat mekaar al hulle hel sal gee a hulle teen mekaar moet speel.
As far as i am aware, we were supposed to pick the team that HM was going to choose, and not who we thought should be there. Points going to the names in and points deducted if we chose the wrong person. Or am I wrong? SuperBul?

Meyer said he would like to work with players he knows. He was the one, I believe, that moved the Bulls to bring in Sadie, so that’s why.
He has hinted at Jean as captain. Also, I think it WISE to bring Fransie back at a later stage, once he is udes to SH conditions again. In due time, he will be a regular.
Jannie and Bismarck, not because of form, but because they have been there. And honestly, no one else is really stepping up at 3.
Bekker, Meyer will be hoping to use Matfield to school him a bit more.
Habana is playing good rugby again. And Meyer worked with him.
Lambie should not play anywhere but 10. In due time he will be a regular.
Elstad… well, who else has REALLY impressed at 7?
Well having seen so little of Super 15 am not really in a position to debate the player choices much so thought I would quickly, off the top of my head throw together a “Bok” team made up of players playing abroad, forwards were quite easy backs a bit harder and had to pick some out of position:
