The Brumbies will keep match-fit in the June Super Rugby break by playing a game against Six Nations champions Wales at Canberra Stadium on the 12th of June.

In a new format for Super Rugby, no competition games will be played between 3-29 June, leaving four weeks for the Wales Tour to roll through Australia and into the ACT
Wales haven’t played a Brumbies team since 1996 when they were beaten convincingly, 69-30 at Canberra Stadium.
Brumbies Rugby Chief Executive Andrew Fagan said he was excited to host the Wales Tour.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for people in the ACT to get out and see one of the world’s best international sides on their own doorstop,” Fagan said.
“Claiming the Six Nations tournament undefeated has confirmed Wales as an international powerhouse, particularly considering their strong showing at last year’s Rugby World Cup.
“With the four week break, this will be the only chance fans get to see the Brumbies play in the ACT during June and we would encourage all our fans to get along in support.”
From the rugby side, Head Coach Jake White said the game would prove valuable experience for his young team, many of whom have never faced international opposition.
“We have a lot of young guys in this team who wouldn’t have come up against an international team like Wales. This will be a big test for them,” White said.
“The Welsh were one of the teams which impressed at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand and clearly they haven’t slowed down, claiming the Six Nations undefeated.”
Brumbies members, they have been given from 12pm Monday, 14 May until 5pm Wednesday, 16 May to secure their regular seating and tickets go on sale for the general public at 9am, Monday, 21 May.

The Lions have announced that in an effort to keep themselves sharp, and to further tighten up on their handling, they have announced a series of matches against the U10 – C team of Laerskool Edleen.
A spokesman from the Lions, who spoke on the insistence of anonoymity said, “this series of challenges is just what we need to sharpen our handling and tackling skills to a few levels higher than we’ve shown in the last few weeks. The coaches at Edleen have agreed that, whilst the practice matches need to be as realistic as possible, their charges will take care not to add further to the list of injured players we already have.”
It is understood that the Lions had asked the Southern Kings for a series of practice matches, but the Kings declined due to their upcoming Super Rugby commitments.
1@ Scrumdown:I heard the same thing. Apparently, though, Mitchell has stipulated that it must be a series of non-contact matches. The U10 team are, understandably big lads, and Mitchell doesn’t want his players coming out with any injuries.
