Amidst the recent hype about players leaving the Cheetahs, and some people speculating about the reasons for it, Naka has just gone about his business, and bolstered his ranks. Loose forwards Lappies Labuschagne, and 7’s specialist Boom Prinsloo have both signed until the end of 2014. Both Boom and Lappies played with great success in last years Currie Cup, and together with Heinrich Brussow, Phillip van der Walt and hopefully Juan Smith, can again form a formidable loose trio.
“Cheetahs flyhalf Sias Ebersohn has revealed that he signed with the Force after becoming frustrated with Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske.
Ebersohn said that he had been given an offer by the Force that he could not turn down after Drotske dropped him.

Exhachary! I like Sias, and he has potential, but unfortunately, he faltered when he got the chance. Hardly Naka’s fault. He is burning his bridges big time!

nah, I have only seen respect fro Naka from the players. Johnson has a history of being slow out of the blocks, and for all his bustling play, he is prone to making some clangers. Again on Saturday, the ball goes past hime at the ruck, and he misses it completely. Besides, Johnson, wrote on FB, that he will miss Bloem, but the decision was in interest of securing his future. WP nel and vd Westhuizen hope to play international rugby, plus earn some bucks.
I am not aware of any player unhappiness at the Cheetahs.Sias feels aggrived, but come on, how many coaches will stick with a player, that is so badly off form, that it affects the rest of the team? Boom Prinsloo, and Lappies signed till end 2013, Goosen signed until end of 2014. That doesn’t indicate any uncertainty, or player unhappiness.

Both Heynecke and Frans at the Bulls are qualified “sielkundiges” (why i write in a foreign language) and i believe that Sias would have been better off there with them at the helm. I feel Sias has got class, his temporary loss off form and confidence can be fixed, if you know hjow. Naka and his staff does not have that expertice , just look at their box and the reactions during games. They are quite funny during games, must say JM(Lions) have the perfect poker face.
At the Bulls you have Morne and before him DH who are in the seat and no one gets a sniff but still when they are injured the next guy comes on and do just as well. You might ask , why? I think it is just because the coach handled the disapointment of the player who lose out better. They somehow keep him focussed. But even if we lose MS i feel that his replacement will just go on with our game plan. Maybe i am in for a big wake up but i believe thjats how it works in Bulls countyry.
Even GBS,s most hatted player Frans Brummer, never let us down, even he cant blame Brummer for losing games for us. If only Griquas believed a bit more in him in the Vodacom final.

You are not picking a fight, we are discussing a point of view. I think your idea has merit, and I was one that said Sias should get a start last year. But seriously, as a pro player, he knew that Goosen was the No. 1 and with good reason. If Naka promised him game time, then fair enough, but is that reason to lose all confidence in itself. Then he is brittle as hell. The super 15 is long, and obviously when a player controls and influences a game to the extent, that Goosen did, you are going to keep him on, till the result is secure. In this years tournament, not many games have been secure by the 60minute mark.
Asa No.2 you must be ready to step in, Sias didn’t he fluffed a simple crucial kick, that cost his team a draw at best, and a win at worst. Naka still stuck with him, but he was so horrid in that 1st half against the Stormers, that you could see, it wasn’t going to change.
My perception is that there is good communication betweenplayers and the coaching team. I read many Cheetahs bulletins, and there is often mention made of guys like Os’involvement in the mentoring of players. The Sias thing is an unique situation, where a talented player, has been upstaged, by a more talented player, and he has not handled it well at all. The public outburt, was a defence mechanism, and it has done his image no good at all.
