This weekend saw the semi finals of the two competitions being  played. The final scores were fairly close in all but one of the matches.

 

 

 

RaboDirect Pro12

On Friday night Ospreys comprehensively beat Munster in the first semi final, the final score 45 – 10. In the process Ospreys scored 5 tries while only conceding 1.

On Saturday night home team Leinster beat Glasgow, the final score 19-15.  This game was fairly close until around midway through the second half when Leinster scored a try to go 19-3 up.

Two late tries from Glasgow brought them closer, one of which right at the end of the game had young Stuart Hogg dive onto a neatly placed Jackson grubber kick. However, this was all too late to overhaul Leinster’s score.

The final between Leinster and the Opreys is due to be played in Dublin on Sunday 27th May, kick off 17.00 SA time.

 

Aviva Premierhsip

Both of the matches were played on Saturday.

In the first game Harlequins beat Northampton, final score 25-23.  Harlequins had to dig deep and showed tremendous character to win the game after trailing by eight points with ten minutes of the match left.

In the second game Leicester were simply too strong for Saracens. Leicester scored two tries in addition to their penalties, while Saracens only managed to reply with five penalties. Final score 24 -15. Young  Leicester flyhalf George Ford (19 years old) stepped up at very short notice to take the place of Toby Flood, who was initially anounced in the starting line up,  and performed admirably.

The final between Harlequins and Leicester is due to be played at Twickenham on Saturday 26th May, kick off 16.00 SA time.
