Each year I dread the Rugby Off-season at the end of the year!
We are almost at the end of an arduous, yet much shorter rugby season here in the Southern Hemisphere for 2011.
We can still look forward to the Currie Cup Final, the finals of the two junior groups (Under 21 and Under 19), the Barbarians game on 26 November (if memory serves me well) and a Wallaby / Wales game around the same time.
In addition we have the scraps of the first IRB Sevens Tournament of the new season, in South Africa, to be held in Port Elizabeth in the beginning of December.
… but that is about it…
We’ll have to watch some Northern Hemisphere Rugby, sigh, and a lot of cricket… and spend some quality time with our families.
Personally I have some things to attend to around the house and garden! Ja mammie, jy’t reg gehoor, moenie op jou rug val nie!
After a hard year I need to get out a bit as well, work on the tan, get some excercise on the Squash courts and Golf courses… what a lovely excuse…
“Honey, I need to go play golf to keep fit!” … hahaha
But you know what, soon I’ll be counting the days till the new rugby season starts… and you’ll be doing exactly the same!
Of course we’re not closing the site down over the off-season, we’re going to chat the hind leg of a few donkeys, right?
Here’s a thought – Who’s in favour of a Rugby-Talk Golf Day in December… and a long 19th hole afterwards? We’ll play “Skins” and I’ll take all your money! Those who do not play have to learn fast, or caddy… and of course see that we’re not thirsty whilst playing!
Golf day is a great idea.
If you get enough people I’ll help you organise it and make sure we get a really good day organised.
Maybe we could look at raising a few buffels for a decent (Rugby) cause out of it?
Happy to donate a case or two prizes for a cause and/or to the 19th – only decent hole on the whole course!

Mind you, those two can’t do my job.
I’ll do some homework and get us a nice “club course” that’s not going to leave us all swearing afterwards.

Truth be told, I don’t know… suppose it’ll have to be here in Gautengeleng…. we’ll have to convince the rich wine farmers to make a weekend of it, fly up.
The guys in the Vrystaat have no excuse, it is just down the drag…
We’ll get a special Golf Cart for Oupa Puma and his wobbly knees.
Loskoppie will be the chef…
Old SuperBees will have to get into his oxwagon, with some tree ferns to sell to cover his costs….

Spoke to BonzaiHandbriekie last night about the Ghoemas (had the spelling wrong yesterday)… she is full of ideas… like having the Celebrity Photo shoot at your Estate.
She’s also talking of exposure on a wide scale… Rapport, Jacaranda 94.2, Kyknet, Branding at the event…
Ghoemas is somewhere in March.
