Western Province have revealed that they are in the process of finalising Springbok centre Jaque Fourie’s contract and the move to Japan is off.

Fourie was linked to a club in Japan after the Springboks were knocked out of the Rugby world Cup but that move appears to have been put aside for the time-being.

Western Province managing director Rob Wagner says that Fourie will stay in the Cape but there are still working on the length of his contract.

“Jaques is staying. I can’t say what the length of the new contract is as we are still busy negotiating further details, but I can say that he is staying.

“All the other Boks have already signed contracts to play for us,” Wagner told the Cape Times.

Twenty nine year old Fourie joined the Stormers at the end of the 2009 season and has become one of the stalwarts of the team.

There is however still the possibility that Fourie may still play some of his rugby in Japan in a similar way to Peter Grant who plays in Japan for the Currie Cup season and then returns for the Super Rugby season.

Johann Sadie, JJ Engelbrecht, Lionel Cronje, CJ van der Linde and Francois Louw all left Western Province last season but no more departures are expected.

I am not that sad to see Cronje go. We have Van Aswegen and Catrikilis.

Sad that Flo is leaving. He did not see himself being part of the Boks in the near future, and went for a carreer move.

As for JJ and Sadie… I think they made a HUGE mistake. They signed with the Bulls before Habana OR Mossie extended their contracts.
And sorry Bulls, but lets do some research…
    2009, CC, Bulls win.
    2010, SR Bulls win
2010, CC Bulls out in semi
2011, SR Bulls out in round robin
2011, CC Bulls out in round robin.

    Oor Mossie. Nice!

Newlands has just put in ramps and lifts, a new medical wing and a fleet of night nurses to help out with all the OAP’s we are keeping. Castle Corner will now called Ambulance Alley and the High performance Centre will become a bingo hall. Apparently we are looking at Stefan Terblanche for our major 2011 signing
