Ryan Kankowski has been drafted into the Sharks team to play Western Province on Friday after he was released from the Springbok squad on Wednesday.

Both Kankowski and Ashley Johnson were released by the Boks after Pierre Spies and Danie Rossouw were declared fit for the test against Australia.

The 26-year-old will now wear his customary No.8 jersey for the Sharks at Newlands in place of Keegan Daniel. The skipper shifts across to the flank where he will partner Marcell Coetzee and form a dynamic loose forward trio.

Experienced openside Jacques Botes drops onto the bench, allowing Francois Kleinhans the opportunity to play for the Under-21s who are in action in the earlier game.
