I think Strauss bested Johnson tonight, but the Lions pack as a whole had a great evening.
Maku also had a big night and went the full 80 minutes without being substituted.

I think the constant gametime he’s getting is definitely helping him develop as a player.
Problem is that he’ll never play at a higher level than Provincial, so he’ll always be a target for an English or French club!

Mapoe also surprised me tonight. I really expected him to be a weak link in defence, but he stood his ground for the most part.
Maybe Mitchell and co have been working with him.
As a Lions supporter it’s nice for me to see the team passing with confidence and not making silly errors that they’ve been guilty of in the past.
It can only be down to self confidence.

I am not too worried about the Bok team. Yes i hate it that we have come to this point where we dont worry about throwing games, but if we improve 5% with every game from now on we might cet to that magical 90% to 95% by the WC quarter finals and semi final.
