The Force will consider taking a train to Melbourne for Friday’s Super Rugby clash with the Rebels if their flight to the Victorian capital is cancelled.

Volcanic ash has made it’s way into Australia’s airspace and the Force’s scheduled flight to Melbourne on Thursday morning is in danger of being postponed.

The cloud of fine grit can damage airplane engines and has disrupted flights in South America since a volcano in Chile began erupting on June the 4th.

Force coach Richard Graham says that they are considering several contingency plans including catching a train to Adelaide and then flying to Melbourne or a direct train to Melbourne

“We’ll walk,” Graham told AAP with a laugh when asked what other options were left.

“No seriously, we’re keen to get there, so if we have to get the train overnight and fly from Adelaide, we’re exploring everything because we’re very keen to get there and play on Friday night.

“At the end of the day, we want to finish the season well and sitting here in Perth isn’t going to give us the opportunity to do that.”

Graham added that the Force would not be happy if the game was called a draw and said that they would consider flying to Melbourne on Friday morning if Thursday’s flights are cancelled
