Junior World Champs: South Africa vs Scotland – Game Thread

Baby Bokkies (21) 33 / Scotties (0) 0 (Final Score)

South Africa took on Scotland in their first clash of 2011 in the Junior World Championships at the Stadio del Plebiscito, Padova, Italy at 20:00 SA Time. This was the match thread for discussion of the game. The match was broadcast live on SuperSport 1 & CSN on TV in SA.

There was always only going to be one winner, but errors hampered the Baby Bokkies and many chances went a-begging. They still scored their 4 tries though and kept the sheet against them blemish free.

Scorers:

Bokkies: 3 Penalties & 2 Conversions Johan Goosen, 2 Tries Francois Venter, 2 Tries Arno Botha

Scotties: No score yet

Howzit, ja ok baas :-) Not able to watch but will be interested to hear what your think about Scotland no. 10 Duncan Weir, he plays for Glasgow in Ruaridh Jacksons (who has played a few 6 nations games for Scotland this year) shadow but I rate his kicking game and ability to take on defenders higher than Ruaridh’s although maybe his distribution skills not as silkly. Guess it may be tough to make a call if his pack is getting drilled like you guys are saying.

Oh Bully, I see the IRB site is only streaming the Baby Blacks game, not the Bokkies game.

By the way, it is safe to download and Intall Microsoft Silverlight… if you have a genuine Windows version… or if it appears genuine… hehehe

Unfortunately Gbs the Irb live games are blocked for UK, Ireland and NZ. They did have some footage of SA v England 3rd place play off, presume it was the last tournament :-(

ok, don’t spend too much time playing around with the machine. See England in same group as SA got 5 points so would be good for Bokkies to get bonus point try, but would also be nice for Scotland to get something too. Francois Venter sounds like a good player, and bonus he’s at the Blue Bulls!

Oh well let you off there, in that context its alright. Gonna be a big day at Newlands tomorrow hope we can pull it off sommer with a bonus point. Anyway with all the focus in different areas this side I was blissfully unaware of Kirstens appointment as cricket coach until Thursday, just seen now the AD is also on board thats great news.
