England (9) 22 / Scotland (9) 16 (Final score)

England edged closer to their first Six Nations title and grand slam for eight years when they beat Scotland 22-16 on Sunday but they were made to work hard for their fourth successive victory.

Scotland, who had lost their opening three games and not won at Twickenham since 1983, scrapped furiously throughout in a game strewn with errors and turnovers and were deservedly level at 9-9 15 minutes into the second half.

A try by replacement flanker Tom Croft plus four Toby Flood penalties took England 10 points clear after 79 minutes and though a Max Evans try brought the Scots back to within three, replacement Jonny Wilkinson finished things off with a penalty in the final minute.

England top the championship standings with eight points from four wins. Wales, second on six points, are the only team who can deny Martin Johnson’s team the title but to do so they would need to see England lose in Ireland next week and beat France in Paris.

79 Jonny Wilkinson adds the penalty as England take a 6-point lead – 22-16

That’s it. Wilkinson boots the ball off and England win. The Grand Slam is on!

England survive after a mighty effort from Scotland. The Calcutta Cup goes to England and they’ll travel to Dublin next week with the prospects of a first Grand Slam since 2003 very much alive

Man of the match James Haskell – deservedly so – is drained, the “toughest international” he’s played

Tindall goes up the steps to take the Calcutta Cup from his future mother in law, Princess Anne

Hello superBul, you lucky man getting to spend the weekend at game lodge. Pity about the rugby, thought we should have had a nice lead after the 1st quarter of the game but England hung in and just got too strong in the 2nd half and the sin bin cost too many points. It also goes your way some days and others doesn’t as a coach, because I thought Parks made a big difference when he came on against Ireland but it didn’t work this week, was surprised Robinson brought Parks on when he did because Jackson played really well up to that point and was a big improvement on two weeks ago. Oh well there’s always Italy next week, but they will be full of confidence after their win against France.

    @ Bullscot:
Sorry i missed you. Was trying to update myself and the site. No TV near me from Friday afternoon.

Man you must do it, this Game Lodge has such a special place in my heart. If you know about the Cheetahs, well those babies ar big now and my dream came true, i had a walk with them in the bush.

On the previous day the walk had a live kill when they caught a warthog. Today the attempted a sebra but they aborted because it was too big. They would be able to manage a young sebra , but these were fully grown ones.

Watch out for the new photos on my Web Album.

    @ superBul:
No worries man, that sounds really good must have been great to be so close to the wild animals, don’t know the specific story about the Cheetahs but it will be good to see the pictures. Can only dream on this for now, do miss going for walks in the bush with the game all around. Just about to head to bed to watch Wild at Heart, don’t know if you get it there but its a nice program filmed in the bush in SA, cheers man.
