Who will be crowned CC champs?

This Saturday is the big final. Who will be crowned the CC Champions?
The Bulls and the Cheetahs have played each other three times in the currie cup finals the past five years. The Bulls have won one, the Cheetahs have won one and the 2006 trophy was shared.

Let’s look at the recent results:

2009

Bulls won 30-27 at Loftus
Cheetahs won 24-15 in Bloem
Bulls won 29-20 at Loftus (s14)

2008

Bulls won 31-23 at Loftus
Bulls won 23-5 in Bloem
Bulls won 31-19 at Loftus
Bulls won 60-20 at Loftus (s14)

2007

Cheetahs won 44-18 in Bloem
Cheetahs won 29-17 at Loftus
Cheetahs won 11-6 in Bloem
Bulls won 24-20 at Loftus (s14)

2006

Bulls won 30-18 in Bloem (s14)
Bulls won 24 -12 in Bloem
Bulls won 41-31 at Loftus
Draw 28 – 28 in Bloem

2005

Cheetahs won 29-25 at Loftus
Bulls won 26-16 at Loftus
Bulls won 26-22 in Bloem

2005

Bulls won 42-33 at Loftus

The Cheetahs has beaten the Bulls only 5 times out of 19 the past 5 years. In the same period, they have only beaten the Bulls twice at Loftus. In 2005, with the famous Meyer Bosman try at the end which also gave them their first currie cup trophy in 29 years. Also in 2007 they beat the Bulls at Loftus, although most of the Bulls were in France winning the World Cup.

Only ONCE in the last 6 years, have the Cheetahs beaten the Bulls with all Springboks available for both sides.

But there is also the Kaplan factor…Since 2005 Jonathan Kaplan has been the referee in three Currie Cup finals where the Bulls were involved. The Bulls hasn’t won a single one.

Still, everyone seems to be sitting on the fence and trying to be nice…I am sticking my neck out and saying the Bulls will win by 8-12 points and be the first team to win the s14 and Currie Cup in the same year!

    Geskiedenis beteken nokkol in ‘n final Supa. Dis wie die koppi vashou Saterdag aand wat saakmaak.
    Miskien is jy besig om jouself mannemoed in te praat?
    Of probeer julle Floues verskoning soek en kyk na Kaplan se kant toe? So ‘n ou agter deurtjie.

    So jy voorspel n Cheetahs wen? Ons sal maar sien wie is reg.
