Western Province Team to face the Leopards

The WP Team, to face the Leopards in Potchefstroom, has been named.

The Team is:

Western Province – 15 Joe Pietersen, 14 Tonderai Chavhanga, 13 Frikkie Welsh, 12 Juan de Jongh, 11 Gio Aplon, 10 Peter Grant, 9 Dewaldt Duvenage, 8 Luke Watson (c), 7 Duane Vermeulen, 6 Francois Louw, 5 Anton van Zyl, 4 De Kock Steenkamp, 3 Brok Harris, 2 Deon Fourie, 1 Wicus Blaauw.
Subs: 16 Tiaan Liebenberg, 17 JD Moller, 18 Hilton Lobberts, 19 Pieter Louw, 20 Conrad Hoffmann, 21 Paul Bosch, 22 JJ Engelbrecht.

Schalk Burger is due to rest for two weeks, following the Tri-Nations and an injury to a rib.

The other returning Bokke player, Rickie Januarie, is also being rested due to the short turn-around of the Springbok players, who have returned victorious from New Zealand.

As expected, De Kock Steenkamp comes in place of Chris Jack, who has finished his stint with WP.

Hilton Lobberts is elevated to the bench.

It is still a powerful WP side and one senses that from hereon in the Unions will attempt to play their stronger sides as the race for semi-final spots heat up.

    Very dicey game this for the WP….

    Flying up there to OR first class SAA, a 180 km busride through the ‘mealie lands and mine dumps’ thru De la Rey country into ‘Dopper Valley’…..a quick lunch of kerrieafval en stampmielies en mampoer at the Elgro, and then off to Olenpark…don’t think they will be able stomach that.

    Dis rowwe wereld daardie, Mielieboere se wereld…manne wat hulle tanne borsel met chlorofil…. Jan van Till se nageslag…

    Sit nie in enige man se balle om daar te wen nie.

    Met die Luiperds se Bokke terug behoort dit taai te wees. 😆

    1955 se Britse Leeus ook, hul eerste wedstryd daar verloor 6-3.
    Nee my maat, dis rof daar innie stof op Potch.
    Bom Samaai en daai ouens….

    (Alhoewel die Leeus op Klerksdorp gespeel het, voor Olenpark geopen was).

    Ek se jou, kyk hoe dop daai Wes-Transvalers die WP om hierdie naweek…gaan die upset wees van die comp….soos die Valke laas keer, geel kaarte en wat nog…
