Lions get an ugly 5 Log points.
A 50+ score looked up for grabs when the Lions scored their bonus point try in the 31st minute. This however was not the case as their wheels came off after that. The Leopards started playing with more composure and made life difficult for the Lions at scrum time. The fact that the referee Mr. Jaco Peyper was also trigger happy did not help the Lions cause. Derick Minnie was penalized on numerous occasions for hands in the ruck when he was clearly doing nothing wrong.
A well improved Leopards team can feel unlucky for not getting more tries on the night. They deserved at least one log point out of this match.
That goes to show that you should make use of any opportunity that comes your way. This Leopard team will hold more of a challenge for visiting teams in this, the second half of the Currie Cup.
Both sides can take a few positives out of this match. The Lions dominated the Line outs and broke the line on numerous occasions. The Leopards looked dangerous when on the front foot and at scrum time.
The 5 Log points keeps the Lions semi-final hopes alive, but they will have to step it up a gear for the next match.
